So why would NY trade for him at this point when they can sign him to a cheaper contract in the offseason and not give up anything?

Yeah it doesn't make sense. I think they're afraid that he might go to the Nets, make that team a contender in a weak Eastern Conference, and decide to sign an extension there.

The Knicks and Carmelo have basically colluded against the Rockets and the rest of the league.

Most people I talk to don't believe Carmelo won't sign the $65 million extension. Be it in Denver/NY/NJ or Dallas, he wants that money.

"Everybody's yelling out the windows: 'Melo we need you in New York.' Of course that feels good when you know someone out there wants you to come and represent their team and represent their city. That's what I took from that," Anthony said.

I'd be pissed/ beyond annoyed with him if I was a nuggets fan, I don't know how his teammates even put up with it.

Put up with it? Really?? What are his teammates supposed to do? Kill him?

Melo made his intentions known along time ago that he was through with Denver.

This is what free agency is about. Its up tothe Nuggets to put something together before they end up with nothing.

But would've been much more of a dick move towards his teammates, he at least finished the year.

I guess Melo is the new guy to hate on.

Melo is handling it professionally while looking out for his own interests. How is this different from anyone else who wants to change their jobs whether it is the company or location? He's not demanding a trade RIGHT NOW, he's willing to serve out the remainder of his contract, which is all he's obligated for.

He's just stating the facts - what he will and won't do. Also, he's making this clear ahead of time instead of leading people on otherwise. He's doing this without throwing the organization under the bus by badmouthing them or creating a circus. Whenever he gets asked questions about this he always says he'd rather not talk about it and focus on playing basketball. I think what he's doing is the most fair to both the Nuggets and himself.

I have no problem with what Melo is doing.

Even if he doesn't re-sign with the Nuggets, he'll leave to the Knicks during the summer anyways.

This way, at least the Nuggets have a chance to get something back in return.

Being loyal is even greater than leaving but there's really no reason why he should stay in Denver if he isn't happy.

Man up and call him out. He may be a star but Billups and Karl are leaders of the team. Melo always makes a comment about leaving but never gets into it. It's not free agency yet, he's under contract. But yea if I was nuggets management he'd already be out the door.
