I've had HDTV through Time Warner Cable (Manhattan) for about a month now. I've watched a few primetime network shows in HDTV, as well as the HBO/Showtime offerings as well. They all looked pretty good. None as good as the "Thirteen/PBS" channel, though, which is filmed and broadcast in HD (which is like night and day when compared to watching things filmed with a conventional camera but broadcast in HD).

Well, it finally clicked in my head today that CBS just might be showing their college football lineup in HD. I tried to watch baseball on Fox before, but they show games and TV shows in 720p (not 1080i), and my TV doesn't do 720p (it's not HD, anyway, and it's not anamorphic widescreen). So, to hell with Fox. Well, I switched my Toshiba over to HD on the hunch that CBS might be showing digital football (since they're far and away the best network at HD right now). Lo and behold, I am now watching college football (Alabama vs. Georgia) in HD! Best part is, this is TRUE HD! The game is being filmed with an HD camera and broadcast accordingly. It f***ing rocks! I'll watch ANY game, as long it looks like this!! Holy crap!

    Anyone else watching HDTV now?

Actually the question is, can anyone else afford HDTV right now?

Hey, as long as you have an HD-ready TV, the service is free here in NYC (if you subscribe to Time Warner Cable). My parents in Houston have it, too, through Time Warner, and I think they pay like $5 a month extra for it. Thing is, they have an add-on HD box, whereas for me it's all-in-one (extra box = extra cables = extra hookups = extra headache). So, everyone can afford the service, rH. It's just the TV you have to buy (and they're getting cheaper and cheaper every day...). C'mon! Join the digital revolution! What are you waiting for??

DirecTV has an HD channel called HDNET (www.hd.net). They've been showing random MLB games in HD (80 this past season), and are doing some college football. Absolutely amazing stuff. They also did the final four in HD last year. Come spring 2003, the NBA is supposed to be doing a "game of the week", and just thinking about it has me "giddy as a school girl." :)

I love mine. You are right about that alabama Georgia game, it was beautiful. Most of the Nfl stuff on sunday is ok but it varies game to game.

The best thing I've ever seen on HD is the March Madness on CBS. I dont even watch college anything, but if its on HD I'll sit there for hours.

Fox is absolutely pathetic when it comes to HD programming.

Aren't some of the NBA games this year suppose to be on HD?
