maybe he's taking some time off, gonna wait for tressel to retire, then go to ohio st. he's from ohio i believe..
I just thought this was funny... and I couldn't tell if it was intentional or not. Thanks for clearing it up.
I'll pull facts and numbers from Wikipedia, and you can pull witty yet ambiguous one-liners from somewhere else.
Pat Forde of ESPN actually mentioned yesterday that he wouldn't be shocked to see Bob Stoops show interest. I still think former Meyer assistants like Dan Mullen and Charlie Strong will be the favorites.
OU is on the same level as UF in terms of profile. Is the SEC a better conference? In terms of strength of teams, absolutely. But that's one reason he might not want to leave for the SEC.
I have no connection to either Florida or OU, but you're just trolling if you think ZOMG FLORIDA IS SUCH AN UPGRADE FROM OU!!!!!
I must be completely oblivious to the appeal of UF football minus their recent run under Meyer. Put yourself in Stoops' shoes and take everything he has right now into account: the amount of control he has, the current success of his program, the unquestionable job security, the money, etc... Would you leave OU for Florida? What does he have to prove by coaching in Florida/SEC? If he did jump ship, he has nothing to gain and everything to lose. Does that sound like an upgrade? There isn't a single factor where UF's situation is clearly advantageous over OU. I think the answer is a resounding no. P.S: I don't think there's another place in the college level that Stoops would leave his current gig for under normal circumstances, and that includes USC, Alabama, OSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Texas, Iowa, etc etc.
On the same level - sure, but which one is higher? Florida...more exposure, bigger state, more everything. Delusion. The inherent problem is the state of Oklahoma, which is a one-horse bunghole where nobody wants to live unless they have to. Same for a lot of states on your list of "elite" programs btw.
Can't recall the last time a coach picked their job location based on the the nightlife of a town. The awesomeness of Florida didn't exactly treat Meyer kindly.
That's a little strong. From the viewpoint of a family man like Stoops, Oklahoma is probably just fine.
