WP7 is down right amazing. I had iOs4 and while it had its pluses, this OS changes everything. Zune pass is awesome, the phone is super responsive, the people icon streamlines the whole social networking experience in one handy dandy source. The email app is fast and office 2010 integration is handy. This phone also does something the iPhone doesn't: it's great as a phone! I've always said apple made a product that does everything well except what it is intended to do. Microsoft didn't make the same mistake. I keep getting compliments on how clear the phone is. I've gone through the original iPhone all the way to the 3gs and I'm still floored by the Samsung Focus. The AMOLED screen is so beautiful I almost don't want to lock my phone when I'm done with. Oh! Did I mention wireless sync!! That's right, my phone detects when I get home and automatically syncs to my PC!!! Jeez, I could go on for days...
Don't think you read the webpage you provided correctly. Anyways, you can check this link out. It shows you how fast LTE speeds are right now... http://gizmodo.com/5704797/verizon-lte-speed-test-insanely-fast AT&T is expected to switch around 2012 or something like that.
Also... T-Mobile's "4G" isn't theoretically 4G in speeds... Neither is Sprint's WiMax... But the fastest "4G" speeds will be LTE once every carrier has 4G.
Hmm... I heard that AT&T is making the switch something near early to mid 2011. However, you are right that the network won't be available to everyone until 2012... http://nexus404.com/Blog/2010/09/17/att-bringing-lte-to-market-mid-2011-att-ceo-john-stankey-promises-lte-by-next-year-says-75-million-people-will-be-covered-by-2012/
Somewhat off topic but who would y'all use for mobile broadband service right now? Read: I want to use my laptop anywhere in the city of Austin without needing to be near a wifi hotspot.
In the long run, any service will most likely sodomize you with their rates. As long as you're doing fairly little you should be fine, but all services are overpriced as hell. Gun to my head I would recommend the Verizon instant hot spot thing. Friends tell me it's amazing.
Thanks. Do you think I would be better of trying the tethering route? I'm currently on AT&T with an IPhone 3G but I might upgrade soon. So, maybe I'll look into that instead of a standalone mobile broadband service.
Tethering certainly won't give you the full speeds that a mobile broadband unit will... but it doesn't hurt to try tethering to see how it fits your needs. Both Sprint and Verizon are great, I think Sprint costs a little bit less (not sure about that though) than Verizon's but both are great.
