depending on whether he plays again next year, i don't think they will boo him if he returns... as long as he doesn't say anything stupid of course

You can remember him however you want. He had talent, but no heart. Why did we boo him last night? Clutch said it best in his article on the game... "And I think that collection of burned bridges sums it up. McGrady had truly amazing talent, the kind that can put you in the Hall of Fame, but you never see true superstars booed at every place they once called home." Link to story

I honestly don't remember, maybe '06/'07 or somewhere in that area. Just got busy with kiddos but never stopped watching my boys.

Oh for the love of Mike. Is Kobe selfish? You bet. I just wrote that he's an immature jerk.

Did he quit? Nope. Look at T-Mac's game in Toronto. Kobe got called for two offensive fouls in the fourth going to the basket. T-Mac threw the ball back every time somebody tried to pass it to him. There's no comparison.

Hooray for the holidays. Hopefully the schedule gets softer now that I actually have some time to watch games.

T-mac is an emotionally immature guy in a lot of way. He showed us that in the Toronto game. He was sour and not happy and let his play be affected. It sealed his doom for sure.

But for his flaws, he also wanted to win and really did care. He really wanted to be a Rocket and I think he still does and won't admit it to anyone. I think it hurt him a lot to be boo'd, but he does burn his bridges.

Still, I don't think we are any better off without him, and he certainly isn't better off without us. He brought a unique talent to this team that's been missing since his departure - a talent that he is struggling to recapture as well.

It's all rather unfortunate. I was always a big fan of his because I loved the Basketball IQ he had in his passing game and his desire to win despite his mental issues.

Hopefully Rockets fans will forgive the guy eventually as there were some nice memories and he never spat on the city in my eyes, he just handled adversity less than what we all expected. He disappointed us for sure, and I'm glad he got boo'd this time around as he needs to understand why he gets boo'd out of every town. But I do hope the next time he plays in Houston he gets cheered.

im kindve in the same boat. some people do bring a lot of problems on themselves, and Tmac seems to be one of those players that doesnt deal with adversity well for any reason. That being said, I've never boo'd a Rocket and probably never will. As much as he kindve gave in and gave up down the road, the guy DID get out there early in years past when his docs said he needed more time. As much as we may have wanted him to stay and wait til he was 100% - when was that going to happen? The guy couldnt win going in before his 100% date, and he couldnt win when he waited and waited because everyone said he as faking and son on and so forth.

He doesnt come across well to the sport or to fans, but... I think that when he was healthy and played for those first few years, he really gave his all. He's the reason we've been to the playoffs 3 of 4 times in this dreadful decade. He's the reason we have the 13 in 35 seconds memory and going from a 6-11 slide, to a 51 win season and a great series (albeit disappointing) against the heavily favored Mavs. He's the reason we wer eeven IN the series anytime vs Utah, especially when we didnt have Yao. He's the reason for the 22-game winning streak.

He tried, and besides Yao didnt really have CONSISTENTLY good role players around him. Sure, Wesley, Sura, Alston, etc everyone had their moments, but no one was consistently good. Now we have good role players, but no star to give them direction. I'd love a healthy Tmac and Yao on THIS team. Hly sht!

I feel for the guy in ways, but I dont love him and am not a fan of his attitude. I have great memories because of him in a very dismal time in Rockets history. I think if I was hurt for 2-3 seasons I might get pretty down too, but I dont like how he handled things. I hated it too when he said the Lakers would win the series against us - but any person in their right mind thought that besides Rockets fans. He's always been strangely honest, and I think thats what people dont always like about him. He doesnt have sly words and a politically correct mind, so he doesnt garner favor with those that wanted to support him most.

I know this. When I heard the first boos I kindve expected it and grinned at the "of course" factor, but after a moment I felt bad. Not just for him, but because of how people are when they cant see past a factor in a larger situation. Everyone remembers Tmac because of the end, but not the beginning and the journey to that point. I was glad that he played well in that game. He shot decently, and if his teammates hadnt sucked it up on catching he wouldve had like 5-6 more assist. I saw him attack the basket on that first play and I felt good for the guy. He didnt have tons of lift, but he tried. I wish the best for him, and I think that things went sour on both ends, for him and for the team, and hope he has some good days left in him before he retires.

I honestly and truly hopes he gets past the first round with a team as well. I dont care if its starting, bench, or anything, as long as he one day gets some minutes on a squad that advances. He played hard on teams for years, and although some arrogance and immaturity got the better of him sometimes, you cant say he didnt try in a lo of those cases.

not my favorite player, but i dont hate him at all.

Can't wait till Yao comes back in 2014 in a wheelchair (after his 43rd lower extremity surgery) and we boo the ***** out of him.

One of the better assessments of Tmac on this thread. Agreed; repped.

IT must suck to get booed from every city you have ever played in. Toronto, Orlando, and now Houston, this guy has a huge ego, it must hurt to know you havn't left a positive feeling towards any of the fans in any city you have ever been in. Especially for a guy as talented as he was, if you look at other great players, MJ, Magic, Hakeem, Ewing, Duncan, Shaq, Iverson, etc....they all have a city that appreciated what they accomplished, Tracy Mcgrady doesn't have that, I'm sure that does hurt even if he doesn't say so.
