There will be smart people at any large school. Both schools are about equal thru education and opportunity they provide. But as someone mentioned before about UT: hotter girls
It is more than that I believe...... And UT is in Austin, there is just so much more to do here, unless you like Cow tipping and cheer practice. DD
Freshmen at UT here. I can provide no insight into either engineering department. But I can provide insight on the women. I'd say A&M has hotter girls relative to the size of the student body, but they all look EXACTLY the same. Not sure how they all look so similar, but they do. At UT, you have a lot of uggos, but a lot of hotties too. The good part is that there are all kinds of 'em too - Whites, Hispanics, Indians. The only disappointment are the Asians. I've seen maybe 1 or 2 attractive ones.
yeah, the way it was lumped in with the all-ubiquitous "culture" made of think of a certain type of diversity, although that may not have been the case. what's "cheer" practice?
SXSW, Austin City Limits, live music capitol of the WORLD, Austin women, UT- basketball, football, & baseball, tradition..... I mean, we're talking about a perennial top 5 city to live in vs a village.
I'm gonna have to agree with whoever said it depends on what you want to do when you graduate. A UT degree (whether justified or not) holds more weight outside of Texas than an A&M degree. If you plan to stay local in Texas, I don't think you can go wrong with either.
Not to say I'm jumping on the "UT girls are the hottest" train (I'm not), but there is a huge difference between "UT girls" and "Austin women."
There's a big difference in the types of engineering. I did Civil Engineering at A&M, and I loved it. However, if you're going into EE, or Comp E, I would definitely go to UT. Anything Biology-related, I would go to A&M. At the end of the day, UT is probably the better overall school, but A&M definitely has the edge in certain individual majors. If it's a matter of social life, I would say UT hands down. Nothing beats Austin nightlife.....
I don't know why everybody's harping about the hotness of women at the two schools. None of these hot women will be going near the engineering buildings except to pass through. Go to A&M if you like Aggie culture and feel a need to be part of something. Fish Camp and Aggie culture has a profound affect on its alumni, and you won't find anything like that--so universal--as a UT grad. Also, if you're from a small town, or if you're fairly conservative or religious, you may feel more comfortable at A&M. The students are generally more conservative. A&M also tends to recruit faculty from their alumni, so if having to deal with very liberal, very eccentric, or very foreign faculty members makes you uncomfortable, then A&M might be a better fit for you (though this might not apply to the engineering faculties, check their web pages and where they went to school for hints). I'm a liberal arts UT grad that worked in the EE department for years and then went to law school with lots of Aggie and Longhorn grads. UT Engineering is stronger academically, but it also tends to be more diverse (meaning lots of TAs who don't speak English as their first language), more academically hardcore to the point of being slightly cutthroat, and more alienating to new students. UT can be a very lonely place as an Engineering student. It all depends on where you think you can be the most successful, because your GPA at either school matters WAY more to your success than which of those two particular school you attend.
UT uses the +/- system so hopefully employers understand that GPAs will be lower. No longer can people live off the 89.5 average
Yep. in the past 10-15 years, I'd definitely say that A&M has hotter babes than UT-Austin branch. UT is getting too tough to get in for the hot ones.
Because the only time you spend in the engineering buildings is when you're going to class or to labs. The rest of the time you're out partying and chasing tail.
