Such a sad story this Rockets team has been the past few years... hopefully this new core we have can make something happen. Especially if Morey manages to put a star in the middle of it.
I think it was. The only difference is that this year his contract expires so we actually have a decision to make. The last year and half we've pretty much been stuck with him no matter what.
Why would we trade Yao for another PF, especially one that is underperforming this year? With Scola serving as an offensive juggernaut, the Rockets need a defensive center with modest to good putback scoring ability. Bosh, a decent player, is not a center. However, I seriously doubt Les Alexander will ever trade Yao Ming.
This is what I don't get.....Yao has publicly stated he volunteered to come of the bench to Rick. Why won't Rick consider using him for 10-14 minutes........ Seriously that just baffles me when you have a starter who volunteers to come off the bench, he didn't say give me 24 minutes. We could use him for 10-14 minutes. If we aren't going to use him, than we need to stop dicking around. Trade him, tell him he won't be playing, offer a buyout of his contract, do something.
the team just needs to give up this yao experiment. if he comes back, just think of him as a bench player. this is ridiculous. there is no way the team still thinks yao can come back. if they are, they are delusional and is really trying to lie to the fans.
Is there any possible way we can buy some more time with this saga? I feel sad for Yao because I know he works really hard but team needs to get some SUPERSTAR power on the court in order to achieve something apart from early playoff exit/or solid season.
Why do I feel like they will start out with a date then say he's out indefinitely... only to say in a couple of weeks that he will be out for the season?
Yao is still a very efficient player. He is a finesse center and doesn't rely on speed and agility to score. His size alone is enough to affect opponents shot on the defensive end. Most people on here are ready to give up on Yao, but he is definitely better than Chuck Hayes. I really hope Rick doesn't try to boot him out like how he did with McGrady. Yao never quit on us that's for sure.
The only way Id want to ever see him in a rockets uni again after this season is if he is willing to take the MLE
Dude never plays, i'm begginning to think any player that just plays regularly would be a good use of the MLE over Yao.
Yea, I don't want Yao locked up for 3-5 years at 5-6 million per if he is going to be sitting in a suit on the bench. I can be convinced to bring him back at league minimum or LLE but that is about it.
Going forward, IMO, if Yao is able to contribute nominally by the end of the season. The MLE will be a bargain for 7-6 big body with skill. I've seen Morey work his magic before; I'm excited to see how he brings in quality youth and talent to the 3 and 5 positions.
