Here is his basketball profile in Australia. http://www.australiabasket.com/player.asp?Cntry=AUS&PlayerID=116087 Kind of reminding me of David Andersen, not sure I'd want him. After 9 games this season, he's averaging 11.9 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while shooting 43% from the field, 40% from behind the arc, and 58% from the line. At the world championships, he averaged 12.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 55% from the field, 35% from the 3, and 69% from the line. These stats are from 6 games.
From what I've gathered in this thread, Tom Abercrombie is a white guy who has great leaping ability. "You already have me! No need for a copy."
Uhh, not sure if you noticed, but you just linked a racist blog dedicated to white basketball players. Here's a passage I just saw on there: "It's a simple fact: White basketball players are better team players, and make those around them better. Chalk it up to better passing, more court awareness, less selfishness, better basketball IQ, and probably other reasons." Not sure you wanna trust the kind of source that has an explicit bias to scout a player...
I don't why morey keep going after role players, didn't he say that he is going to sign a star for a long term, we don't need another bench wormer
fire RA and hire Bill Fitch to coach Abercrombie I actually watched a euro championship game between NZ and AUS, his name was called alot.
No kidding. Don't know anything about this dude, but if he is another softie, just forget it. We have enough softies too fill up a pillow factory.
Ok - having seen Abercrombie play more than a handful of games, I feel qualified to comment! Of the players in the Aussie Basketball league, Abercrombie is one of the only guys who has the tools to play NBA basketball. He has the size (6'9-6'10) and has the athletic ability. He also has an excellent 'feel' for the game, is able to make brilliant cuts and does a good job on the boards. There is very little similarity between him and David Andersen. Perhaps none! If you're looking for someone to compare his game to, think Kirilenko - a big athletic guy who plays great defence, is a good shotblocking, and is a lot tougher than his frame suggests. Don't hear me say he's Kirilenko!! But I first saw Kirilenko play as an 18 year old, and seeing Abercrombie this year makes me think of AKs early years. You've got no guarantees that Abercrombie would be a good NBA player, but he is one of those guys who 'has the tools' and 'MIGHT' work out to be solid (perhaps even very good?). 15th man on a minimum contract? go for it!
For the Summer League team maybe...but there's no way he'll be able to make the jump mid season and be able to adjust to the NBA game now. It's not like he's torching things down in the Aussie league.
This is where us Aussies have inside information i watch this guy every week and IMHO he would never crack the rotation, he is a poor mans jermaine taylor... Athletically talented like a ma ****a but i dont see him in the NBA morey please stay away...
He doesn't play Center, he's a 6'6'' SF. As mentioned in this thread already... He's a replica of Chase Budinger. Maybe they see something in him, but he already said his agent has no knowledge of the Houston Rockets being interested. If we were actually interested in him, I don't think he'd be terrible. His highlights seem to be ok and he's explosive. Maybe we're about to make a move and he's going to be a cheap filler to back up Chase when Shane is gone?
DMorey is always looking to upgrade his team for 2 dollars. He likes the law of averages. A group of mediocre players winning a championship.
Why not just sign this guy and stick him on the Vipers and see what he can do there first... Then he can just play for Yao in China if things don't work out?
morey is only interested in this guy because he can get him for a pack of peanuts and a ole english 40 ounce............ DAMN U LES!!!!!!!!!!!.... LOL
I agree with what you say, but he's more a 6'6-6'7 than a 6'9-6'10, right? What do you think about his defense? He has NBA body, if he's competitive and smart could be a good 2nd round pick. http://turkey2010.fiba.com/pages/en.../4728/pid/51007/sid/4728/tid/337/profile.html Very good stats in Turkey.
