Now I am not here to make any claims, but rather to state some facts I know. Rockets players have been seen out in the Houston scene alot this past year. Let me get specific, on numerous occasions we have spotted our lovable rox players at various bars, clubs, and lounges. Some of these spottings have been the night before we have games, or the night right after a game. Is it right that our players are not performing at a contention level yet they party it up? Do these players not get paid millions to compete at their highest level possible? Is it possible for these players to compete at their highest level when their possible rest or work out time is spent checkin eye candy or knockin back shots? (not off the back board) Do you think Kobe or any other high caliber player goes to the bar after a game? Or do you think they get their rest and wake up early for another work out and practice? I didnt think much of it, except when 4 of our rotation players were at the bar following our lakers victory. Hey its nice and all we beat the best in the west, but hell id rather lost to that team and beat all those other trash teams weve been losing to. No bashing me please, this is just a thought i had because even i personally on multiple occasions have seen our rotation players out on washington. Not saying dont party, but hey in the thick of the season?? Thoughts:
They are grown men. I'm not going to tell them what they can and cannot do in their free time. If the partying is affecting their play, then their role on the team decreases. I've heard of Shane Battier being spotted at Pearl Bar a lot -- and he's one of the most professional guys in the league. It's not a big deal.
Specific as in where they are being spotted. I would rather refrain from using particular names or places. It would be one thing to see them at the mall or so, but out partying at night during the season just doesnt seem right to me. We pay them way too much for them to not put in 100%.
my thoughts: This team have nothing to do with the championship or even the playoffs. Also, this team have no one having it. party or not, does not matter. do not care.
Ha, what ZBoy said What I was going to say: This reminds me of the Kyle Lowry thread. "Kyle, shouldnt you be practicing on your shot instead of playing Black Ops or Halo?" (Or whatever he was playing.)
Sure he is, and he's also having his worst season as a rocket. Cmon guys if we were winning, I wouldnt have anything to say about it, heck id welcome having an oppurtunity to party with our guys that represent our city and bring home the W. But thats hardly the case. And its also an issue because it has been more so then in previous years. Hell our championship years, you would never catch hakeem or clyde having drinks the night before a game!
Yes, it's right. If they are duty-bound to be sacrifice their whole lives to the Rockets, I'll leave it to Les Alexander to worry about whether they are fulfilling their commitments. I wonder, if your employer wasn't meeting it's earnings target this year, would you avoid the clubs so you can wake up early and more diligently apply yourself to your job to help them make those targets?
I see Rockets & Texans players out in the off-season but never during the regular season.. Who has seen them out at clubs during this season?
My job does not require hours and hours of rest so my body can regenerate. Also my job does not require me to be in the best shape of my life. Perhaps if it did i'd lay off the beer lol.

Simply not true. We're a quarter way into the season and you're already claiming it's more-so than previous years.. talk about an exaggeration to cling to a point. You're making a big deal out of it because we have a losing record. If we were winning, as you said, you would be buying them shots. There shouldn't be a double standard -- if you think it's unprofessional for them to be out drinking, then you should feel the exact same way when they're winning.
This is such a joke of a thread and not to sound "mean" but you are coming off as a douchebag. Nobody wants someone telling them how to live their lives.
Celebrating? How about socializing. Not the same thing. You didnt offer any proof other than your memory. Using Kobe as an example here is like using John Amaechi as the example of someone who wouldn't cheat with Brent Barry's wife. You'd be surprised how many players, even those of high caliber, go out after games. Kobe is the exception, not the norm. Its also different when you have a younger team. This applies in life outside of pro sports too, shouldnt be an issue or raise eyebrows...
Nor am i trying to. Just more of a comparision. Like I said i doubt kobe has time to his up a bar when hes shooting his 1000 shots a day (dont know if he still does that but i know for a very long time he did). If they are getting paid millions and millions to help our team win then can we please WIN? and yeah sure it is a double standard but that goes with alot of things in life.
Your absolutely right, and as i said it did not draw my attention at first, but only after it happened game nights and pre-game nights. Okay so Kobe is an exception, how about our own players? I doubt Scola is spending his evenings drinking. and hes putting out for the rockets night in and night out. and sure it doesnt necessarily effect their play, but as mentioned battier is having the worst season as a rocket. maybe he should spend some of those nights watching film and correct his game so he can earn those millions. (keeping in mind shane did have a couple of break out games but nothing consistent)
Isn't it possible to put in an 8 hour day at the facility (practice, weight work, extra shooting, studying film, etc.) and then go out and enjoy a night on the town? How many hours a day do you think they should be spending working on their game?
