One of the owners in my league has offered me a trade. It's not terrific (in making my team better), but it has potential. He trades: Rod Smith, Michael Pittman, Chad Lewis, Kordell Stewart I trade: LaDainian Tomlinson My roster: QB: B. Griese, S.McNair, J. Miller RB: S. Alexander, L. Tomlinson, E. George, T.J. Duckett, M. Bennett WR: D. Boston, C. Chambers, E. McCaffrey, A. Davis, A. Bryant TE: F. Jones, A. Crumpler His roster: QB: Jamie Martin, B. Johnson, K. Stewart, R. Peete RB: M. Faulk, M. Pittman, D. Staley, J. White WR: Troy Brown, Keyshawn Johnson, R. Smith, J. Thrash, J. Galloway TE: S. Sharpe, C. Lewis Start: 2 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 flex RB/WR, 1 TE Now, I know he's giving up a lot for LT, but I'm not sure it works in making my team better. LT's a stud and has been my most consistent performer. Plus, he's a top 3 RB, and that's hard to come by. However, if Pittman can be a decent stop-gap for me, Rod Smith would round out my receiving group nicely. Another owner has offered Corey Dillon and Peerless Price for LT (but I'm not sure how serious he is). Would that be a better deal? (Personally, I think so, but I wanna know from you.) Now, I was thinking of changing the trade to this: He trades: R. Smith, M. Pittman, J. White I trade: LT -or- He trades: R. Smith, M. Pittman, J. Thrash I trade: LT, T.J. Duckett What can I do to upgrade my team (within reason)? Someone help me out here!
my personal mantra is to never trade quality for quantity... i'm always the one doing the opposite... i trade a bunch of avg. to above avg. players for a superstar... IMO... no trade.
The first trade... (Smith, Pittman, Lewis, and Stewart for Tomlinson) No way. Stewart's not the starter anymore, and you already have three quarterbacks. He's a useless addition. Chad Lewis, while in a good offense with a quarterback that likes to feature him, has lost a bit from his Pro Bowl season a couple of years ago. Crumpler has the potential to reach that level, and while Freddie Jones has disappointed, he still has talent. Lewis really isn't a huge upgrade here. Pittman has been a major disappointment in his usage in Tampa and, for many teams, may not be worth a roster spot. At best, he's better than Duckett, but that's not saying much. Stay away. Rod Smith is the only player of value here. However, Griese has been moving the ball around to a LOT of receivers, and not in the good Philly-kinda way either. Coupled with their three solid running backs, and I think his stats are going to take a dive just a bit this year. I definately wouldn't do that deal. As for the others...only make a deal that will strengthen your team while hurting his. If you deal away LT, you aren't going to get a running back of similar caliber in return - and with Eddie George moving into the 2nd spot, you wouldn't be terribly well off there. If you can get Dillon and Price for LT, I'd do that deal. Dillon's best days are ahead of him this year and Price is a solid receiving option. He may not have the clout that Rod Smith has, but he's got the numbers, the system, and the quarterback behind him to put up some nice stats this year.
All right. That deal was mercifully taken off the table. Now I'm trying a new trade with someone else. Here goes... He trades: Anthony Thomas, Donald Driver, Marcus Pollard I trade: LT, Ed McCaffrey I don't have much confidence in Driver, personally. Yes, he's done well to date, but will his numbers hold up? Otherwise, I like this trade. Fills 3 holes in my lineup. However, I don't think he's gonna accept it. He was waffling before...
I'd jump on that trade. Driver is the man in Green Bay, and with Brett Favre behind him, he's a good bet for a lot of touchdowns this season. Pollard is still the #2 TE in fantasy football, and Anthony Thomas is a solid running back (though obviously not the caliber of Tomlinson). McCaffrey may not return to top form until next year, while LT faces some tough(er) defenses later this season.
That Trade is ok, LT will probably be a 1400+ 10+ TD back, The Denver Offense has been sluggish. A-Train's number have been down due to more of a passing game. Keep in mind Pollard has been injured the first part of the season and Qadry Ismail has turned into Peyton's #2 option. Driver looks like Favre's main man right now but keep in mind Green Bay WR's never have huge seasons because Favre spreads the ball around so much.
