The Pistons, not wanting to take on any additional contracts, rebuffed the Spurs' offer of point guard Erick Barkley. Detroit wants a second-round pick for Bateer and likely will trade him to Dallas if it can't make a deal with the Spurs. The Spurs like Bateer, who was traded from Denver on Monday, but are hesitant about adding to their payroll because of the impending luxury tax. Bateer may be available because both the Pistons and the Spurs have problem to make room for Bateer in their teams as the article says. Yeah, that is a bit unnecessary. For the time being, it would be a bad idea to have more than one Chinese player. China would be holding too many cards if we had Yao Ming and Bateer. In a couple years,when chinese players are a bit more established, I don't think it will be as big a deal. Don't expect many Chinese Mavericks in the near future (teehee).
