I'm so pissed Australia didn't get the 2022 World Cup. Qatar is gonna have the worst world cup. Seriously WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?? Do you really think people would rather go to Qatar or Australia?

They were thinking....."I need to vote for the people that gave me the most $$$$"

Our army is still over there, we have plenty of time to leave Iraq and Afganastan and take over Qatar, and make them our 51st state.

So just because that guy missed the goal Qatar shouldn't host the WC..?

No, it shouldn't host because it is a tiny country that has oppressive heat, and fickle laws.

And it cost a quality team a chance at the trophy because the host nation automatically gets in...

INVADE QATAR, take that cup that was stolen from us.

    ;)

Well, at least a competitive side. Its a mockery that teams that have to go through more competitive qualification rounds ie. Ireland, Russia more recently who missed out on going to the cup, who we could argue deserved a spot, will miss out to give way to a Qatari that is mediocre at best.

I don't care where the cup is held, but when I watch it for the football and not location, I want to see the best teams play. Whilst Australia is not one of the best teams in the world, I would rather see them play than Qatar.

In other news, the world cup 2026 has been awarded to the Vatican and the world cup 2030 to Greenland. 2034 it's Liechtenstein's turn.

Under Qatar's laws, it is illegal to show alcohol or be drunk in public. This wouldn't be too bad except there are no bars in Qatar except in expensive hotels. As for liquor stores, this is from Wikipedia, There is one liquor store, Qatar Distribution Centre, in Doha. To purchase things there, you must have a license that can only be obtained by having a written letter of permission from your employer. So, PI laws, no possession, no free-standing bars, no liquor stores for tourists.

Good luck with that one FIFA!

I have to say, those are some sick and awesome stadiums they are planning to build..

As for the bid, I wanted England to win, but Qatar is a worth the try.

Personally, I think it'd be interesting having this huge tournament all in one place instead of people traveling all over the country. It will probably feel like the Olympics.

and as an outsider, i just think people here are just hating because they have their biased views about muslims

I'm upset because a country that has no place playing in the WC gets an automatic qualifier for hosting, and the fact that said host country is smaller than Delaware in size and less in population than Austin.

They can't compete in the tournament and they can't handle the influx and masses of people coming in.

They got rid of that rule, now host countries have to qualify like everyone else to be in the world cup.

This is incorrect. The host country is automatically qualified.

No, you're talking about the previous champion rule. France was the last to do that, and Brazil had to play to qualify in 2006.

Brazil is already qualified as hosts in 2014.

I'm actually glad Australia didn't get it. I'm sick of the saturated soccer coverage here and all those ugly Westfield shopping centres.
