Can anybody do this trig problem? You're supposed to make one side equal another. Sorry but I am taking PreCalculus this semester and I don't get this problem. This is the first side: 1 + sin x - 2 ___ sin x _____________________________ - 1 + sin x ___ sin x This is the second side sin x -1 _______ sin x +1
Aren't there some formulas that you can use to simplify? sorry I can't be of more help, I took Pre-Cal 4 or 5 yrs ago.
Multiply the first side by sin x / six x (ie multiply by 1). This yields: sin2 x - 2sin x + 1 ------------------- sin2 x - 1 Next you need to factorize (sin x - 1)(sin x - 1) ---------------------- (sin x + 1)(sin x - 1) This then reduces to the second side. I took trig in 1976, so I hope I got it right
