Are these things worth buying yet? I am seeing some specials out there since it's Super Bowl weekend, like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HT-BD1250-Blu-ray-Theater-System/dp/B001XCX9V6
i'd buy all that stuff separate or get a HTIB without the bluray and get the bluray separate. the bluray players they use in those units are dirt slow. don't you have a ps3 ice?
Yeah, and I use it on the 40" in the gameroom. I still need a surround sound for that TV. But I don't have a Blue-Ray for the 52" in the living room, and I need a surround sound for that room as well. I don't have to buy like today, but I heard SB time was a good time to buy. Are these solid speakers, since you say buy stuff seperately? http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-RM705-Theater-System/dp/B000WGJX5A/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_3
I heard Polk is pretty solid. Yahama and Pioneer are good bang for you buck receivers. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882115194 this one does hdmi switch (with audio). bluray players are cheap now, you can find them for $150 or less. don't forget to get your cables on monoprice.com, it's the best and cheapest.
Didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll add on to this one. I'm looking to buy a home theater system for my bedroom but I can't figure out which one to get out of the 4 I've chose. I don't NEED to have a blu-ray player but I'd prefer to have one (though I'm not sure anymore because of the industry heading to streaming), but I'd really like to have rear wireless speakers (though I can make an exception if I find a home theater system that makes up for it with great sound and a great deal), Wifi is also not a necessity. I would also prefer tower speakers or a mixture of both wall-mounted and tower over wall-mounted ones but I can live with wall-mounted. OK, here are the 4. 1) Onkyo HT-S3300 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BEDQR6?ie=UTF8&force-full-site=1 This one seems like it has great sound, I've found great reviews all around with this, and it sells for $299. It doesn't have a BD player, or wifi, or rear-wireless.. but I'm considering this because of the excellent reviews it has gotten in the sound department and because it has plenty of inputs (3 hdmi, 2 optical). 2) Sony HT-SF470 http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...10551&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666166151 This one doesn't have too many reviews over the internet, but the people that have reviewed it say it's solid. It has no BD player, no wifi, no onscreen display. The people that have reviewed it also say the tower speakers are sturdy. There are 3 hdmi inputs and 2 optical inputs, it's rear-wireless ready (though you have to purchase Sony's S-AIR adapter and amp). $300 is the cheapest I could find. 3) Sony BDV-E770W http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666077670 http://reviews.cnet.com/home-theater-systems/sony-bdv-e770w/4505-6740_7-33995568.html This one got a great rating from cnet, though I've seen mixed reviews about it from users. It lacks HDMI inputs which is a bummer but it has great sound and some people say it's not a hassle to just use optical audio. It comes with rear-wireless speakers, has wifi, and a BD player. Found this for about $380. 4) Sony BDV-HZ970W http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921666240515 This one also got some pretty decent reviews, though there aren't too many reviews on it either. It has 2 HDMI inputs, 2 optical inputs, a BD player, Wifi, and rear-wireless speakers. The thing about this one is that I found this on the net for about $480 and it retails for $700 most every where else so that's why I'm also considering this one. One small nitpick about this system is that it doesn't have AM radio (or at least I don't think it does). If anyone also owns a sound bar, would it be better to get a sound bar for a bedroom rather than one of these? Thanks for any help.
Also get some Martin Logan speakers and subwoofer to complete your system. That setup will beat any of your crummy suggestions any day of the week and twice on Sundays. You're welcome.
A Soundbar would do just fine in a bedroom. I installed one in a living room above a wall mounted TV and it looked and sounded ok. It eliminates the issue of rear speakers all together. Plus if you can get the wires in the wall behind it it looks really cool.
I bought the Sony HT-SF470 about 2 weeks ago, love it so far, didn't want anything with Blu-Ray built in since I have a PS3 hooked up to it, and it would be kind of pointless to have a 2nd player. It was dirt cheap a few weeks ago (220?) and I jumped all over it. Haven't had a chance to listen to anything too sound intensive, may pop in Black Hawk Down tonight though to test it out. Next week the speakers will be ear****ing me with Hans Zimmer's amazing score.
You can use this for any of the home theater system and it will make it wireless. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Rocketf...75528&st=WIRELESS SPEAKERS&contract_desc=null
To me, more bang for your buck is the Onkyo...they're great...i'm of the opinion that you should buy the components seperately...JBL is a good bang for your buck option as well...
If you are interested in a new blu-ray player, I have a brand new one, still sealed I am looking to sell....willing to sell for 170 cash. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-BD-C5900-1080p-Blu-ray-Player/dp/B003QP41EC/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
OK, sounds good. With a sound bar, do you get a 5.1 effect of some kind or an effect of surround in your bedroom and how is the bass? Thanks. I was leaning towards getting this, prices kinda went back up.. but I love having tower speakers. I think I'm going to throw the BDV-E770W out of the equation. Yeah, I actually just read up about that this morning, it seems like it could work with anything, may considering getting that if I get the Onkyo. Well, I'm only going to be using this for the bedroom so I don't want to spend too much on audio, that's the only reason why I don't want to buy separate components. But, you're right about the bang for the buck... wish this Onkyo has tower speakers, but I think it's between this one and the HT-SF470. Well, I'm not looking to get a Blu-Ray right now until I know it becomes a necessity... that's why I don't really care if my HiTB has a BD player. Thanks though.
I just ordered the Onkyo HT-S6300 7.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver and Speaker Package with iPod Dock and am going to get the Rocketfish - Universal Wireless Rear Speaker Kit so I can go wireless for the rear speakers. I can't wait to try it out!
I bought a Yamaha receiver about 3 months ago and one of these: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...aw3000:dg_ggldf&productId=8198552921665089196 Freaking love it. I used to have a HTIB till it stopped working, fuse or something. And I blew it (short circuit) trying to work on it.
