They may be waiting for the right time to strike, but why waste half a season?! -front office knows the fans "can wait" b/c HEY, we have been watching mediocrity for years now. It all about the numbers, statistically i think we have been attending games consistently at a certain capacity. They know exactly how much time they can buy. You think DM is a STAT genius just for players? - No, we uses the same methods for how to get ppl through the door. Red Rising... LOL... how long will we be rising for?
we've BEEN mediocre. ever since 1997, rockets fan deem a season "successsful" if we just make it to the 2nd round. now the season is successful if we just "surprise a lot of people."
I don't this accusation is fair. I'm sure what you're thinking of is trading that #8 pick for Battier. But, they've swung for the fences on quite a few picks and just whiffed. The big rookie bets that come to my mind are Eddie Griffin and Steve Francis. Even Yao Ming was a bet. They just didn't work out, ultimately.
Mediocre? Really? Mediocre means average....middle....so-so We suck. Plain and simple. We are less than so-so
i was excited at the time... but looking back on it... was there anything more embarassing than the "championship celebration" after the first round win vs. the Blazers?? geez.
The Rockets do not Suck, we are not bad, we ARE mediocre.. it is not like we are getting blown out every game... it is the 4th quarters that usually kill us. SO back to what i was saying.. DM JUST got through saying everything he does is "long term" - that can only fly with a fan base that accepts a team being in "no mans land" for extended periods of time. Everything the Rockets do is to benefit them financially. Decisions should consider our reaction- But they don't because we have accepted that DM the GM is all powerful, and the rox are "rising" ..B.S.!! What really makes me sick & what a lot of ppl tend to forget is the rockets have an international fan base now - due to Yao - and it is embarrassing that a World renowned team is considered even Mediocre if not crappy. I don't think there is some conspiracy here (Rockets = china), but why does the front office think that we can sit idle?! The years that we have had Yao, and whatever years he has left is the Rockets 15 minutes of fame AND THEY ARE WASTING IT! Rockets are so famous that Chuck Wagon has a shoe contract!! just imagine if we were a great team. The NBA would do anything to favor us in any way they could! This is the time to double down - Les is playing it safe financially, which is understandable ,but we need to be a winning team real soon.
They have accepted mediocre until we can somehow get a better team either through the draft or trade. Until then, they have chosen to be a low level playoff team while they try to make it happen. DD
