Come on DD, you are seeing the same thing that everyone else is seeing. Something is wrong with Bud. I can understand going on a shooting slump for a couple of games, but he has only had 3-4(maybe less) good games this season and they were too far in between to really pay much attention to.
"Spot up shooter".. to .."all-around scorer." What? Look, y'all. Budinger is not a great shooter anywhere close to Martin. He really isn't even our 5th best shooter. Never has been. He bricks... last year and this year. He is not off...he is what he is. Great on the fastbreak and can do some...uh...other things as I recall. He is a role player. Martin is lights out. Not Bud. Not sure where people came up with the idea that he was the next Larry Bird...oh, cause he's white. Ok, got it.
I'm not that high on Bud like i used to be. I thought he had a good ceiling, but lately i can tell he is what he is and i can't see much ceiling any more. He is a Hamilton clone, needs the ball on a catch and shoot play 'needs it at the right spot in the right time kinda shooter'. And he hasn't been lights out either. His defense needs a lot of work too.
I don't think you're giving Budinger enough credit. In his college career, he shot 46.9% from the field and 38.3% from behind the arc. I don't know what you consider great, but in my books, that's great. Even last year, he shot 44% from the field, and 37% from behind the arc. Considering that almost half of his shots are threes, I'd say those are some pretty darn good percentages. So he's struggling this year, that doesn't mean you give up on him quite yet. He definitely isn't the next Bird and isn't an all around scorer, bu he still deserves more credit than you're giving him in my opinion.
Apparently people aren't too high on Bud these days around here. The Bud has to be kind if we hope to get something valuable back in that package.
All of Buds problems started with the 1st ankle injury. Ever since then it's been downhill. He may not be the highlight of a package deal, but he would make it more tempting.
Of course I see it, but with him coming off of sprained ankles which are your base in your jumper, it is probably just a matter of time, and looking at his slow start last year to how he finished, that is encouraging. Get him on the floor. DD
So the fact that he hasn't improved from last year is a good thing? And about being an all-around scorer...hmm...still haven't seen him create his own shot.
Right. It's like Bud has gotten stale, or we overpaid for what we thought was potent Bud but turned out to be low-grade Bud.
Those are identical (yes, identical) number to Luther Head and Jermaine Taylor's college numbers, from the college 3. So what's so great about it. You know what Steve Novak shot from the college 3 for his career...46%. Battier shot 41% from 3s for his career. Those aren't as good as Cuttino Mobley, and Cuttino could attack the basket much better. But they are fine. We need Chase to get back up to last year. The scouting report is out on him and we have to hope this sophomore slump is not due to that, vs hoping it's something that is just mental...and fixable. I'm not giving up on him, but I'm getting to the point that I'd start giving him less minutes for sure...make him work for it again. It's like, at what point do you take Luther Head out of the Utah series.
