And before you pull the "Did you just compare Jordan to Rudy?" card, note that I'm criticizing your logic, not making direct comparisons between players. -- Like A Breath
They where actually struggling, great win for them. To be honest, minus the Clips and Kings, everyone in the West is better then us without Yao/AB. We will have trouble with them in a few days.
Stupid? Let me define "stupid" for you. Having a #8 pick in a deep draft and banking that the reason you went to the Lottery (health) wasn't going to bite you on the arse again. Then assuming the difference between the WC elites and your team was a Shame Battier pot-o-glue. All this because (you later admitted publically) you didn't think Rudy Gay would develop as quickly as he did. That my friend is Stupid.
Do you REALLY think we are better without them? We may not be that much better, probably not even a playoff team, but still better. Hey I am tired of Yao and think its time to go and think AB is a nice little guard who can shoot but nothing much more then that BUT they would help a great deal right now.
Do you realize Randolph is old already? The Grizz have peaked, and this is about as good as that core will be since all of them are due to make a ton of money in the coming years.
That wasn't photoshop. Rudy Gay was indeed a Rocket for like 2 secs before he got traded. To be honest I'm definitely one of the majority who hated the Battier trade when it happened. I mean, by that time I've started to give up hope on the Tmac-Yao era..Tmac always faded in the playoffs and Yao Ming always broke his foot in the playoffs. That was a chance to rebuild with youth, and I was skeptical that a career role player was better than Gay, who would be monitored by JVG and his fine staff. Looking back though, the trade got us a really good glue guy who helped us get us a ton of wins during his stay here. On the other hand Memphis was never the same after trading Shane-they reached lottery with nearly the same roster intact, and Pau was soon shipped out to the Lakers. Now Memphis is stuck paying Gay's OVERPAID contract...essentially paying top dollar for a team that still won't reach the playoffs this year. Will the Grizz even be able to keep their core intact next year? Will they be able to keep Mayo and Gasol after paying top dollar for Gay and Conley? I doubt it. The Grizz era has ended before it could even begin.
Might as well try to lose em all now. I can already see it... The Houston Rockets with the number 1 pick select ________!!
why are so many of yall still griping over the fact that we traded rudy gay for shane? 1st of all, this was 4 years ago so forget about it and quit crying over spilled milk, and 2nd, plz understand our situation at the time that caused us to trade for him!!!!! we had tmac and thought he was the future of our franchise and getting gay at the time would have been getting a tmac clone and we had championship aspirations coming in to the 06-07 season after the disappointing 05-06 season so we traded our lottery pick for a good defensive minded player that all championship teams need.
I dont understand the constant talk about Gay being better than Battier. The reasoning the team had back then wasn't that gay would never be better. It's a given he had more potential and that now he's reaching it. What is worth discussing and hardly is, is whether we'd be able to afford him now and what kind of team we'd have around him.
If McGrady was the franchise player and Gay is the McGrady clone, wouldn't that make two franchise players?
Yes I realize Randolph is 29(Old....) And how in Gods name have they peaked, they have been getting better every season. And they just locked conley and gay up for a long time.
