You don't need to sack him to win, you need to put pressure and contain him. He hasn't thrown a lot of interceptions this season, and a lot of that has to do with he doesn't make bad throws because he can use his feet to make a play. We need to limit his scrambles to under three yards.
NFL Network broke down how the Bears schemed to stop Vick. The Texans do these kind of "games" on the Defensive Line, but I'm hoping that the Tackles hold up and apply the pressure needed to allow the Ends (Mario/Antonio/Anderson) to come back in Vick's face. Also, I wonder how the Texans will spy on Vick. Will they use a LB or a safety?
I don't buy this. This might be true for most teams with NFL-caliber cornerbacks, but if Vick has 5 seconds to throw against Quin, Jackson, Molden, and McCain, he's going to hurt the Texans badly. My heart says they have a chance, but my brain says the Eagles are going to dominate. I'll say that it's not a dominating score, though: 30-23, with another comeback that ends up just short.
LETS SHUT EM OUT BOYYSSS!!! gonna be a tough game, but if we get a good hit on vick, things should be good.
don't call my texans boys, if we win this a black hole will form in Tanzania. with that said i'm rooting for them with PASSION! i hope Quin gets two more karma picks..maybe a pick six. (maybe mario can hit vick mid-throw
It would be interesting if the Texans shut down Vick, if only to show the rest of the league there's a scheme now rather than just have a really good defense. We need a good dose of Arian Foster. Eagles are similar to the Colts in that the Eagles can be run on and they love to pass. Not to mention Andy "don't know how to use timeouts" Reid.
My first point was "we need to put pressure on him," putting pressure on him can be just as effective as sacking him... look at what they did to Peyton in week one where they only got two sacks, but more importantly hit him 10 times.
the difference is that Peyton isnt gonna run for 100 yards against u if u chase him out of the pocket
This is a very winnable game. The Texans offense is better than the Eagles, and we CAN win if we try and out score them.
if peyton can run for a 1st against our D on MNF, imagine what vick will do against this defense just think about it gives me chill
Sorry, but after seeing our linebackers and safeties keeping Chris Johnson in check I don't think Vick is going to see anywhere near 100 yards on the ground.
On most downs, a guy like Pollard is the perfect pick. But if they start showing spread formations (and they did that a lot against Chicago), you switch to a LB spy.
Teams have been doing that since Vick has come back and results are inconsistent. Fletcher was spying and we saw how that went. The only two I'd be comfortable with spying Vick would be Cushing and Pollard. On the many plays that get to the 2nd level our secondary and LBs just take horrible lines towards the ballcarrier, it's disgusting. Cushing because he's been showing better instincts and getting into the backfield more. Pollard because he's a liability in coverage already, and either way he hits (arm tackles or bonecrusher) can pop Vick and maybe cause a fumble if he gets a shot.
Yeah, I can't see Vick hurting us with his feet... which makes it all the harder for the Eagles because their offense is balanced. I think we'll keep LeSean McCoy in check, the only thing I'm worried about is Maclin or Jackson having a break out game... but I'm probably more worried about the offense than the defense. The offense has been inconsistent too much in the 1st 3 quarters of games (I'm not saying we have to be perfect, but stupid mistakes and playing calls end drives that negate us from points that could be very valuable at the end of games). Since this game is on the road, and probably in the cold... I just think we need to get off to a great start... meaning points on 2 of our first 3 drives.
