This was done for like $5,000 with amazing production values for that price point. Very well worth your time to watch if you are a LOTR fan. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9H09xnhlCQU?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9H09xnhlCQU?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> DD
I watched it a while back and it's pretty good for an independently made short. They definitely put a lot of love into it.
Follow up to the first one, over 1 hour long...gonna watch later, but this is pretty danged cool: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qINwCRM8acM?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qINwCRM8acM?fs=1&hl=en_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> DD
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to DaDakota again. Thanks for posting this... Big LOTR fan here.
Watching the 2nd one now, and it is WELL worth it...these are very well done....clearly not with Peter Jackson's budget but well acted and well shot, and very good storytelling. DD
If you liked the first one, the 2nd is even better, it is the story of Aragorn's family and how he came to be......fricken amazing that someone is doing this on a shoestring budget. I mean this was well acted, great character development, well staged, good setup and photography and a wonderful sound track. I am blown away that I just got to watch that on YouTube. WOW ! DD
Just watched the first one and will watch the second one later. Very impressive. The casting is pretty good and the guy playing Aragorn could pass for a younger Vigo Mortenson but the women playing Arwen definitely will never be confused for Liv Tyler.
I have read the Hobbit and the LOTR several times, but never could get through the Silmarillion, may have to give it another go. I actually designed a video game based upon the back story and Radaghast that got killed 6 months before shipping because Universal at the time was out of cash.... I love the LOTR series... DD
That's interesting I did the same thing -- never could get through the Silmarillion. It's interesting, but it seems like it's cobbled together from a bunch of short stories. It's also very obscure.
Lots of reference and backstory I take it is in the Silmarillion...been 20+ years since I attempted to read it. DD
I read the Silmarillion first, then the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I think that worked out better as I understood all of the references and back story in the Lord of the Rings.
