The ability to slow down aging will be an essential part to future space exploration.

I find it interesting how REVERED the evolution process is. How its presented as TREASURED and THE truth. Its evolution is what we ARE, its how we're here, admire it. No religion, it is not needed. Evolution is THE NATURAL process.Trust in BIOLOGY...

Then its "Okay...so lets CHANGE this and that and, hell with it EVERYTHING in the genome, to how WE see fit, to our liking"

Just saying why is religion considered "obstruction" and genetic engineering isnt? I thank science for allowing me to not have smallpox and polio, though it appears religion NOR science seems too satisfied with what we "naturally" are. .

    So....

Another 10 years till they start experimenting on humans?

    Another 10 for a breakthrough?

    Another 15 for mass testing?

Another 10 for the prices to come down?

Good, I think I might be able to survive long enough for that....

In all seriousness, this has potential to be a catastrophic discovery.

We're dealing with super mice here

All the experience and wisdom of the elder, combined with the speed and agility of the young....

Science in general is not obstruction because it is always changing, every second. New discoveries lead to new ways of thinking, and that is just dandy.

Religion, on the other hand, is always changing as well. The difference is that it is losing substance because of science.

To sum up my thoughts, I would say that how we view things is based on the scientific advances of your own time. People 1000 years ago had a different view of how "Natural" is defined.

I think you can pretty much swap the words religion and science in your post and it would mean the same thing.

I think your conclusion is correct though. I'll add from my own opinion that humans will turn both religion and science into whatever they want it to become - development, knowledge, weaponry, whatever.

If Kurzweil's right, sentient AI's will arrive sooner and do the heavy lifting for us.

'Til then, better play it safe and stick to the 75 supplement pills a day routine.

Lets keep in mind we've been able to cure cancer and a bunch of other diseases in mice too. Its going to be a long time before we can head down to the organ rejuvenation spa.

Whoops I see Dback beat me to it.
