Nobody has really thought about this, or at least posted it... so i thought, what if hakeem comes back this year and he's back in old form. no more missed shots from three feet away, no more asthma, no more nights sat on the bench to watch cato "develop". What if hakeem "the dream" olajuwon, comes back in form? what's going to happen to the offense? are we gonna forget about stevie franchise and dump it inside, or are we going to forget about the hall of fame center? or by some magic streak of luck are we gonna play together? what if hakeem comes back? ------------------ "When the mind is thinking, it is talking to itself." .... Hakeem's level of play won't be as high as Stevie's, it's that simple. But if he is in good shape he will get his touches, and could even be an all-star. Who is so good besides Shaq that he would keep Dream off the roster? It's a three-horse race between Dream, DRob, and Vlade. I do think that most of his points will come off jump shots Stevie creates. ------------------
I would LOVE for that to happen. In fact, I am rooting for it. I don't think it will, however. DaDakota ------------------
Dream on. No pun intended. Hell, I'd settle for Hakeem of the first few Barkley years! Give me 19/10 or 16/8 from Hakeem and I'm a happy camper. ------------------ "I've been licking this carpet for hours and I still don't feel like a lesbian!"
If Dream can come back to his form of old the Rockets would have a great shot at a title. Improbable as that is I would love to see him put up 18-20 ppg and double digit rebounds. That wouldn't make the tank brigade happy because of the draft position that would result in '01. For my part though, I would love to see Dream go out with the opportunity to make a final playoff appearance and at least a shot at one more title run. ------------------
I would be happy if he put up those kind of numbers for 35-40 of the games thats the only thing that I think could happen if he stays healthy ------------------ Agent [This message has been edited by Agent86 (edited July 13, 2000).]
I agree with JT. If Hakeem comes back and gives us 16 and 9 while shooting around 50% we would be a title contender. Of course Cato would have to play up to his potential. Croshere would have to be signed. A starting lineup of Hakeem Cato Croshere Shandon Francis Bench: Mooch Mobes Walt Kenny Langhi I think with some luck we could make some noise in the playoffs. There are alot of "ifs" though. ------------------
I think 15 and 10 from Dream isnt really a stretch at all. I think if he can play about 30-35 min a game, it would be possible for him to do that. Title contenders if he plays like he did from 93-95? You never know. We've got a lot of young guys that would have to step up. Namely Shandon and Cat. But seeing him put up 15 and 10 would make me damn happy. ------------------ Great players aren't always great, they're only great when they have to be
If Dream came back next year in his form of old, I'd sue him for his performance during the past two seasons. Another run? He's got many more runs in him. Mostly during Ramadan.
My goal for Dream: 20 injury-free games. I don't think he will give that, unfortunately. ------------------
Will: Funny stuff. ------------------ Great players aren't always great, they're only great when they have to be
He won't reach the 93-95 level, that's just not possible. But 15-10 in 70 games is very possible, and could get him into the all-star game. ------------------
grummett, How will you classify games just after his return from injury and/or Injured Reserve? Part of the 20 or the count doesn't start until he is recovered (to the extent possible)?
