Finn is a douche and deserved to be beat...problem is, Andre will get suspended, rightly or wrongly...Finn should as well...
Some of you are pathetic. Why would you completely ignore the context? Finnigan knew exactly what he was doing when he came off the line, you can see him throw both his hands under Andre's mask. When someone attacks you like that, it's either you take control of the situation and put the guy in his place, or he will continue and compromise your safety. Anyone who does not think Andre's actions are justified should be ashamed.
On the chron.com sports page there is a headline that says "DO NOT POST!!!!!!!! Texans WR Johnson fined, not suspended for fighting." It's under "other top stories" here, if they haven't taken it down: http://www.chron.com/sports/
wowowow. im surprised there was no suspension but so happy at the same time. props to the nfl for this decision.
Holy crap, didn't even see this. So, the Chron doesn't know and they just have both articles ready to go?
Sounds like John McClain wrote both of them in anticipation of the NFL's announcement. Texans receiver Andre Johnson found out today that the NFL has fined him $25,000 but will not suspend him for his role in the fight with Tennessee cornerback Cortland Finnegan on Sunday. Johnson and Finnegan, both of whom were ejected for their fourth-quarter fight in the Texans’ 20-0 victory, could have been fined and suspended. The NFL made a quick decision because the Texans play at Philadelphia on Thursday. After the game, Johnson apologized, but Finnegan left the dressing room without comment. Finnegan has been fined three times this season and warned by the NFL about his roughhouse tactics. The usually mild-mannered Johnson was fined $7,500 last year for being involved in a sideline fight at Tennessee. That one began with Finnegan and included players from both teams. Johnson and Finnegan, who tangle two times a season in their AFC South series, fought with 7:53 left in the game. They had been going at it throughout the game. Johnson had beaten Finnegan on a touchdown in the first half. When Johnson came off the line of scrimmage, rather than jamming him in the chest, Finnegan hit him in his facemask, igniting the brawl. The players ripped each other’s helmet off. Johnson landed three punches to Finnegan’s face, including a roundhouse and a stiff uppercut before they were separated. john.mcclain@chron.com The NFL has suspended Texans receiver Andre Johnson and Tennessee cornerback Cortland Finnegan for their fight in the fourth quarter of the 20-0 victory over the Titans on Sunday at Reliant Stadium. Johnson will miss Thursday’s nationally televised game at Philadelphia. The Texans, who defeated the Titans 20-0, were hoping Johnson wouldn’t be suspended, only fined. They reasoned that the league might go easy on Johnson because he has not been a troublemaker and because he apologized after the game. Finnegan, who left the dressing room without comment, has been fined three times this season and warned by the NFL to avoid his rough-house tactics. This will be the second game Johnson has missed this season. He sat out the Oakland game because of a sprained ankle, and the Texans defeated the Raiders. There's two different versions if you click the link, probably just prep for whenever the decision is announced one way or the other.
well . . . playing both sides of the story . . that is kind of ****ty getting people's hopes up Rocket River
looks like a goof by chron.com Seems like McClain wrote up two articles for when the penalties are released and they accidentally posted both
Schefter already said they are meeting this morning to discuss it. Should probably know within the hour.
Really? By ripping his helmet off, jumping on him when he (the p***y he is) cowers to the ground like a turtle and pounding his head? Then throwing another uppercut while the ref is pulling you off? Come on, man. holy crap. If I "should be ashamed", then why did AJ feel the need to apologize to his teammates? No one here is "pathetic" just because we don't see this situation the way you do.
What if one of them gets injured before the game? You can't have delayed suspensions. They just don't work.
