    Are you kidding me? We are FOUR games from the 8th seed. If we win the next 7 games, we will reach .500. Making the playoffs is hardly a "stretch" as arjun put it. We need a fantastic December/ January, and with Yao and Brooks returning, its' possible!

    Here's the next 7 games.
    Thunder
    @Mavs
    Lakers
    @Grizzlies
    @Bulls
    Pistons
    @Bucks

    They even beat a crap team like the Bobcats(6-11, 0.353).

    There is no way that they going to be undefeated in the next 7 games against playoff teams like the Thunder, Mavs, Lakers and Bulls.

    Even with 7 wins in a row, they would be tied for the 10th seed with Phoenix. They need a 0.534 record at the minimum.

    Well when they were 23-20 a few years ago and lost to lots of crap teams despite Yao and Tmac being completely healthy, nobody thought they'd win 22 in a row either.

    Really now, a bit defensive, aren't we?
    Are you Yao's best friend or something?

    23-20 is a winning record. There is a huge difference between a 0.550-0.600 record and a 0.267 record. One team is a loser, the other team is a winner.

    Yao would have returned this past Friday had it not been Black Friday.

    Typical Yao. Always thinking of others.

    Yao Ming is one of my favorite Rockets of all time. I love his work ethic. I love his sense of dedication to his profession and team. I love his loyalty to the franchise, the fans, his country, his community. I love his wit and personality. I don't think I have a single negative thing to say about the man.

    And yet I have given up on his career. The Rockets will never be able to depend on him again (if they ever could). I'll miss him when he's gone. I'll forever be a fan of his. But I am really ready for the Rockets to start building for the post-Yao era.

    Call me a hater.

    Never say never. What are you, Mr Psychic? How can you be THAT certain Yao Ming will never be able to depend on him again. Really? So he can't even have a solid career now?

    I won't call you a hater, but I will call you just another bandwagon "fan" who so easily jumps on and off the wagon. Fans like you do not understand the meaning of "Support". You only support when things go well. But you are the first to give up when things go badly. Nice.

    Damn, I meant to say:

    How can you be THAT certain that the Houston Rockets will never be able to depend on him again.

    The team, for whatever magical reason, suddenly played well together. The first 10 games before Yao's injury, McGrady and Yao were meshing perfectly. They were playing what all fans hoped they'll play together like, perfecting the inside outside threat.

    Of course, part of that credit goes towards Scola and Landry's emergence, as well as Alston's elevated game.

    The difference between that team and this team is that 2008 team had enough talent to compete for the championship. The Rockets were one Yao away from the title contender, and one Rafer away from winning the series against Jazz (most people would agree that had Rafer played in the first two home games, we would probably have won them both.)

    Of course, we also had Mutombo then, who even at 90 years old could rebound and defend better than anyone in this roster (including Yao).

    This current team does not have enough talent to compete, and even if we do mesh together and play on par with our talent, we're at best a 50 win playoff team.

    We haven't been able to depend on him for 3 years.
    Stop calling others names and grow up.

    Sometimes the truth hurts. He falls way to often. He should never be down on the floor, period, for any reason, ever.

    Not sure why I remember this, but here's your post from another thread a few days back. So why the sudden change of heart?

    Yao Ming should probably retire. I've said this before, he will never ever be a franchise player again. His left foot will forever haunt him. He's made his money, and I don't see a good reason to risk his future health for what?

    However, that realistic assessment is vastly different from what everyone else is saying. Everyone here has already given up on Yao Ming and the Rockets in an insane manner. They are saying things like Yao never led the rockets to a successful season. WHAT? They are saying things like, Yao was NEVER a good player. WHAT? They are revising history left and right because they hate Yao Ming. It's reaching absurd levels.

    Point out where anyone in this thread said anything like that. And if you think "His left foot will forever haunt him" and he "should probably retire", haven't you given up on him as well?
