I lost faith after the Tulsa loss but hopefully they can turn it around and end the season on a high note.
Thankfully and mercifully, this lost season is over. They didn't deserve a bowl of any kind. If they don't get a defense next year, the revival of UH football will be short lived. They could use some help on the offensive line as well; for some reason they didn't play as well this year as last.
Tech gave us more opportunities than we deserved to win that game. Sumlin got a little exposed as a green coach this year. I still have faith in him though. Because of the new culture in the administration and the changing campus/demographics, the revival will be ongoing, you can only really slow it down at this point, not stop it.
Surprised Tech did not roll the Coogs. Makes you wonder what if Case was at QB. It was a winnable game even with a true freshman QB. Going to be a long offseason. 2010 became a rebuilding year.
There were a lot of winnable games this year, Rice, Tulsa, UCF, hell, even Southern Miss and Mississippi State might have been within reach. Oh well, I think Piland will be allright. Sumlin benched some of his senior defenders in favor of underclassmen tonight, and they did reasonably well (holding Tech to 30 points when your offense is converting like 20% on 3rd and 4th down is pretty damn good). I thought that was really weird for a final game, but if you don't perform, you don't play apparently. Also, our best player, senior James Cleveland, was suspended for the game because he missed a team meeting. Sumlin is a real hardass.
2nd time Cleveland did that this season. Not going to look good for him come draft time. I was thinking 4th rd but I doubt he is drafted now.
