who cares if we got him, he blossemed in New Orleans because he had a superior pg in CP3 who got him looks, he sucked in Charlotte because they didn't have a true pg, now in Dallas he has Kidd it would have been exactly the same scenario here as it was in Charlotte Brooks is a shoot first pg and we didn't have Ish Smith back then. Just my two cents.
completely forgot about him...his minutes are definitely dwindling...but cuban is stubborn and may just keep him as insurance incase of an injury....they're going to need to re-sign chandler next season. I dont know how much JJ's expiring deal will help him in doing that, but that's what we could begin to offer for Haywood.
Who cares about his offense??? We would have Brooks, Martin, and Scola to take care of the offense. We need DEFENSE and SIZE.
The guy is 31, from what I've seen from Mavs fans they HATE him right now, and he has a 44 million dollar deal for 5 years, as Cuban AGAIN hurls stupid money at a tall guy. Hell effing no. As for OP: Is this supposed to impress us?
LOL let me guess...the OP managed to look at Chandler's 22 rebound effort and went "OMG Chandler with hustle! D! Rebounding!?!?!" 1) Chandler's 22 rebs came against the Heat aka Bosh and Big Z. 2) chandler looked pretty good with CP3, hooping and slamming dunks everywhere. Then he got traded to Charlotte and stunk. Now he's playing with another elite playmaking pg in Kidd and playing well again. Unfortunately we don't have a cp3 or kidd here, more than likely we'll get the Charlotte Chandler instead of NO/dallas chandler. 3) Chandler's making 12.5 million salary right now. I don't know whether his contract is expiring or not, but if it just started you can bet its gonna increase year after year he's under contract. 4) He's also averaging just 9 pts and 9 rebs the whole season. Yes, he would have definitely been an upgrade over Hayes, Miller and injured Yao Ming combined...but that still ain't enough reason to pay him 12.5 million a year.
8.8 mill (averaged) isn't that bad, at least compared to the 12.5 mill Chandler is making. Yahoo has his salary at only 6.9 mill this season, so I don't know how accurate your figures are. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/dal/roster 31 year old Haywood at 6.9 mill or 35 year old Brad Miller at 5 mill a year? LOL it ain't even close.
What bugs me is the nagging feeling that even if we had acquired Chandler, on this current Rockets team, he'd be playing like the Tyson Chandler of a few years ago. No beast mode. No fire. This is not the way the Houston Rockets are supposed to play. This team is supposed to be blood and guts and leave-it-all-on-the-court. Chandler would be great on a team like that, at least defensively. On THIS Rockets team, I'm not sure he'd make a difference.
