So I bought a brand new XBox yesterday, preparing for NBA2K3 which is to be released next Tuesday. While I was at it, I picked up NFL2K3, and boy did I suck. I played two games, one as the Texans and the other as the Redskins, and got destroyed by upwards of fifty points in both games...and these were short games. My confidence is pretty much shot at this point. So, I was just wondering if anybody had any defensive or offensive strategy that they could give. Do you run primarily running plays or passing plays? How do you avoid throwing interceptions (Shane Matthew threw 8 ints vs. Carolina)? How can you get the most out of run? Spin moves? Right/Left jukes? etc... And as for defense, which man do usually play with...an LB, DB, or DL? Any other tips or pointers you could give would be appreciated. As for other XBox games...it sounds like I should definitely get Halo pretty soon. Are there any other must have games for XBox? I'm also looking forward to the extended version of Metal Gear 2 and Shenmue II.
First get Halo. Then in 3-4 weeks after you are done with it come back and we will talk about NFL2K3. Seriously, there has to be some training sections on the game that you can practice on right? That is what is so sweet about Madden 2003, the mini-camps. You can practice every piece of the game from kicking to running to tackling.
You have to get Halo, and practice up for x-box live. The multiplayer version of this game is amazing -- up to 16 players. Elder Scrolls: Morrowind -- I like it, but not everyone does. It's more a patient, strategy oriented game. Shrek -- I got this one for little nieces and nephews, and I don't like it at all. Too hard to control. Spiderman -- Supposed to be pretty good. I may get this one next. Outlaw Golf -- Friend has. Golf simulating engine is pretty amazing, and characters are interesting. Turok -- Big name. Heavily marketed. But I haven't found anyone that likes it. Knock of of Halo, with dinosaurs, and not nearly as good. NFL2K2 -- I wasn't very impressed with. If I get a football game, it will be Madden. Max Payne -- One friend loves, one that hates. I played about 10 mintues, and didn't like it. Thing, Robotech: Battlecry and Lord of the Rings are some big new releases, but I'm waiting for the jury to come back on wether they are actually any good. Harry Potter 2 is supposed to be released at the same time the movie comes out, and the reviews are very good, in case you want a G/PG game for kids to play. Be sure and check out a game before you buy it. at $50 each you'll be upset if it's bad. A good idea would be to rent them first. Check the reviews: www.amazon.com, www.gamespot.com, www.gamespy.com, www.gamefaqs.com are some of my favorites. If you get a game, check for an online strategy guide or reviews -- not necessarily for the secrets, but it will help your learning curve, and make the game more enjoyable.
Let me add -- two games coming out that are supposed to be very good have Tom Clancy's name on them. Ghost Recon is an adaptation of the PC game, and may allow 16 or 32 in multiplayer. Splinter Cell is a espionage game, that puts you in charge of a CIA agent that spies, breaks into buildings, plants bugs, etc.
you simply MUST get Halo. I personally HATED FPS games, I thought they were totally boring, and then I got Halo. It is f-ing awesome. It's the only game I ever had where, right after I beat it on the normal diifficulty setting, I put the controller down for five seconds and started a new game on legendary setting. It's that much fun. As for 2k3, I bought it 5 days ago and am much, much better than when I first started. It took me two days to win a game but now I'm 3-1 with the Texans in my 2nd season so its not so bad. First, change the difficulty sliders for catching and pursuit to make it slightly easier, or else your guys will drop half of every pass thrown to them and will get chased down from behind by defensive linemen. . On offense, I like to use the 3 or4 wideout sets for both passing and running. It forces the computer to go into a nickel or dime so you get 5 on 5 blocking, much easier going 5 lineman and a fullback vs. their whole defense stacked in the middle. (I use the "strong cutback zone" and "weak dive" plays alot) stay away from the wide runs, you'll get nailed. I'm not really good enough to use the juke/special moves when I'm running through the line yet, so I just tap A, if aything. Use the crossing patterns on offense, (esp. the "double cross" pattern out of Quads or Quads Gun formation); they're almost unstoppable. The Hail Mary is surprisingly effective too. Sometime the CPU just plays a zone and 2 of your 3 wideouts go zipping by the saftey down the field. On defense, as I said previously in another thread, sacks are few and far between, you can blitz everybody on occasion and nail the QB but he doesn't always go down even when you hit hiim. Play zone coverage, you'll get at least 1-2 picks a game.
Use the juke button. That is your best weapon running. It's will get you 2-3 more yards and in the open field you might go the distance. It's very helpful. As was said. Adjust the pursuit slider down. If you don't you will NEVER break a long run. They always catch you. It's more realistic if you move it down about three notches. The A- button can be used to speed up, but only when your in the open field. If you use it at the line of scrimmage the lb's will speed up too. So it can hurt you. When you pass you just have to learn how to read the defense and hit the open guy. For example, if you see two db's next to each other, you are likely facing a man defense and a blitz. It's just like the pros. You just have to find the open wide out and hit -em. Make sure you have your feet set when throwing. If you roll out, set your feet then throw. On Defense, I usually drop back into coverage. There's no way to really dominate on D. I like the Bear defense because I don't have to worry about the run so much. Special moves will get you more sacks.
On running plays, use your blockers. This might mean you have to slow down a bit to let the play develop. As soon as you hit a hole, use speed burst. On passing plays, take note of your WR routes, remember that you can lob it or zip it depending on the call. Also, learn to read the defense, know when they are blitzing. Make sure you have some audibles setup once you start recognizing defenses. For my running game, I traded for Lorenzo Neal, and he is clearing tank sized holes for me to run through. One note about lob passes is that they are more susceptible to be intercepted. Make sure your WR can outrun the DB if you lob it. Basically the success of your passing game depends on the timing of your passes. It's this realistic aspect of the game that I love so much. This game is so deep as far as the AI, it's crazy. Make sure you check out Franchise mode. Last night I wanted to 'tweak' my roster and add some speed on my special teams. Anyway, I ended up 'tweaking' for 2 hours! Hands down, NFL2K3 is king.
Cant you play Halo online right now? without X-Box live being out.. I have Halo and want to play it online
I thought there was a thread about this somewhere earlier last week, I can't remember. But you can, you need a network hub. and something else maybe go to xbconnect to figure out exactly what you need to do.
Search and you shall find http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=41848&highlight=halo+online
Actually yes -- I posted the question. Gamespy.com is another option for online play. Both basically allow you to system link with other people -- over the net. I haven't tried it yet.. but I plan to . The x-box live will be coming up in a few months though, and it's supposed to be incredible.
If you have a hub and a broadband connection - then no. Just download the gamespy tunnel and get busy! http://www.gamespyarcade.com/support/tunnel_xbox.shtml
nope gotta buy your own hub from a computer store, and you got to get broadband service from whatever provider you have.
smallz88 - you need to get the hub from Best Buy or Circuit City, etc. The Broadband is either DSL, Cable or a Satellite connection through an ISP.
Well no wonder you got your ass whooped. Picking two crap ass teams like those. Go with the Cowboys man!
