mathloom, First and foremost, stop comparing Jesus to the rest of mankind, we will always lose. The problem with your statement is that you're saying it's got to be all or nothing. You are saying that because Jesus spent a great deal of time helping others, that his carpentry had to be given up? What if his carpentry provided shelter for those that he helped? Why must we choose between self advancement and the greater good? You talk about Jesus as if had he chosen carpentry rather than prophet, the world would be worse off, who are you to judge, YOU go against the very word he tried to preach.
If anything, a man should live his life to the upmost of his abilities to maximize his talents. It's up to man to give back from the fruit of his labor, he should not be forced or required, to me, that's the question God poses for us, how are you going to help your fellow man? Do you help your fellow man by working your tail off and giving him a portion of your earnings or do you teach him how to work and get his own? There's a big difference.

Why not do both? The majority of welfare recipients are elderly. Most of welfare goes towards medical expenses. Are you saying we need to teach elderly sick people how to work but not help them out monitarily? Why not teach those that are able which is a very small percentage of welfare recipients, and provide aid to those that need it but can't work.
Because in his ideology, people that can't fend for themselves deserve to die. After all, their burden to the rest of mankind diminishes quality of life. All that money to feed disadvantaged people could buy some really nice Rolls Royces.
