I agree with Jon Berry that this team should be much better than the records they sit on, even with Brooks and Yao out. At this point, I feel that any coach would have done a better job than RA. It's time for a decision. Even if the team is rebuilding, hire a new coach for the task!
The small forward position is killing us right now. Neither Shane or Bud are producing. And you know what... its time to play Jeffries. We need more size out there. Jordan Hill can't defend the paint all by himself.
Time to get serious about rebuilding. Trade the vets for picks, develop the young guys & stop handing out long term deals.
It's just not getting any prettier. We have a different rotation every night and nobody seems to know their role or how to play with the combo of the night. I just don't understand some of the match-ups, why he sticks with certain people in certain situations, and why he seems half a quarter slow to make adjustments. Shane couldn't hit the water if he fell out of a boat, every single shot is short except for that layup he blew. His legs appear to be shot on both ends of the court. Toss him in a suit and let him help coach and be glue from the bench. If his true value is in the locker room then let him stay there. Martin was MIA most of the night. He's even more quiet when he doesn't score. If he isn't getting his normal calls (like in the playoffs?) then he's pretty useless. We won't even discuss his defense, because there's simply nothing to discuss. Lowry looked tired tonight and didn't seem to have the same fire as he has the past few games. Back to Bonzi-style. Hill looked good tonight. Most of his mental issues will work out with playing time and experience. He's only been playing for less than decade now and is still developing a feel for the game. CBud had some good looks in the first half and got his confidence up a bit, but then in the second half it was back to 18% Bud. I wish I had more answers as to how to fix all of this short of blow up the team and fire the coaching staff. Maybe we'll click one day and regain our defensive intensity (which was decent in the 1st half) but right now, we are lottery bound. Sigh.
They produced, just not on both sides of the court. JJ does need an earlier look every game. RA also needs to make the other team adjust to them...we're the ones always scrweing up our lineup to match up with everyone else. When you do that you'll NEVER have an advantage because we don't have enough mobile bigs.
The Toronto game and this loss tonight convinced me that we are destined for the lottery. Adelman is an idiot, it boggles the damn mind how he keeps giving Battier and Hayes significant minutes even though he has other options who by the way are having a solid game.
Yes this is what Kevin Martin would look like in the playoffs. He did not get one of his normal calls tonight.
Man some of you are simply don't get it. Blaming Yao, AB or Rick on this. Rockets took almost 30.....3 point attempts....WTF is that, you can't win games if you are trying to take 30 and only hitting 9 of them. Than we miss 7 Free throws....... Yao, AB, Rick had nothing to do with missing 7 FT's and taking 30 3 point attempts...... We lacked a post game and an aggressive player who takes it to the hole.
Jackson and Mohammad completely dominated Martin and Scola in the low post. It forced the Rockets to scramble and send double teams to help, giving better looks to the rest of the Bobcats. Great job exploiting the mismatches by Larry Brown. For the Rockets, give credit to Charlotte's D, but Martin's jumpshot was cold and he wasn't getting the calls. Budinger starts off well, then completely cools off. Miller posed defensive problems, so doesn't get a lot of PT. That's pretty much our perimeter scoring right there. I really thought Budinger was coming out of his funk in the first half, but he looked really bad again in the second half. His shot seems to rely a lot on his legs, so I'm wondering if it's a conditioning problem. Regardless, his lack of consistent offense really paints Adelman in a corner.
I would like to see Elston Turner get the job. People keep saying he's ready and it's not like there is something wrong with the current "system." RA just keeps making erroneous decision; like he's lost "it" or something.
Like I said before, no amount of player substitution can hide the fact that the players are not playing good right now. Add to the fact that most of our players are one dimensional or struggling at offense or team D, and our margin for error is hair thin, thus making our record self explanatory.
