At some point, a team may have to overpay for a measly 2 more points, an extra rebound, blocked shot, etc. The average margin of victory in the NBA is in the single digits, and an extra point, an extra possession, and/or an extra basket erased can make a huge difference on win/loss column in a given season. Sure Scola is a better deal, but the question is, how much extra are you willing to pay to get over the hump?

Bosh plays timid. He reminds me a lot of Rashard Lewis.

Heat can afford (I dont mean financially) his playstyle because they have Wade and James that will play the alpha male roles. Although I am pretty sure that the Heat will not be very content with Bosh's performance if he keeps it up.

Rockets could not afford that mentality because he would be brought here to play the alpha male role, which is a borderline oxymoron.

There's probably a reason why Bosh was getting a max deal from the team of his choice this offseason and Scola was competing with David Lee for leftovers. And it ain't because he was an RFA.

I'm interested in seeing how Bosh would play in the playoffs. I know Scola is a good player and busts his butt. Sometimes it helps when you can literally dunk on someone or catch a alley hoop. Also it would better if Scola was a better shot blocker!

There may have been, but I haven't seen it. Man, we would be the softest team in the league if we had ended up with Bosh. Scola isn't a great defender, but the man plays with heart and passion and actually has a post game.

Also, Lee might have actually been a much better fit as a 3rd wheel for Miami since he isn't afraid to get tough rebounds and he can do a little more without the ball.

It's been 15 games. Way too early to make conclusions.

Bosh is soft in defense about the same as Scola is. The difference is that Scola is a warrior with or without someone to help, Bosh needs to be on the someone like Wade or Lebron to take the heat off him or feed him.

People thinking Bosh would suddenly be a better leader over here then he was (or wasn't) in Toronto are fooling themselves. Bosh is over hyped, unable to lead a team by himself in the weaker Eastern conference and the Rockets did indeed dodge a bullet not signing him. I like to think Morey did it as just a test to see if Bosh was interested and to placate fans. Because if Morey was serious about possibly giving up various of our rotation players for a second fiddle guy (which is what Bosh is) then the cracks in Morey's talent evaluation armor are far more apparent then I thought.

But I guess that shows the overall weakness of the current NBA bigs were people are still trying to call Bosh one of the best bigs in the NBA.

Difference is Bosh has more length and athleticism, so if he puts in the effort he atleast has potential to be a good defender, but scola will always be a poor defender because he doesn't have quick feet nor shot blocking ability.

Some of the descriptions of Bosh are similar to Pau Gasol in Memphis.

The argument of Bosh not being a TRUE max player makes sense, because Pau wasn't considered a max player at all. Bosh's fame makes him appear better than what he is.

But Bosh's production is still on par with the better players in the league.

Yes, same as Pau Gasol. Gasol has ELITE length, Bosh has quicker feet.

Bosh isn't proving to have the same Pau-effect with the Heat, but Bosh has shown enough where you'd consider taking that chance on him and hope his length and athleticism measures out.

This is just the state of big men in the game. Would Amare have been a better option? Amare is doing now with the Knicks what Bosh was ALWAYS doing with the Raptors. That shows why the Rockets stick with Yao, even as unreliable as Yao is

Bosh wants to chill, not work. Scola is work and has better hair that flows in the wind like a wild horse.

This......lets not also forget, he wants more TV exposure than actually winning.

We hated T-mac's work habits but willing to accept a douche bag like this....

You cannot compare the 2 players given the situation. 1 plays for a really bad team and is the primary scorer. The other plays behind Dwayne Wade and Lebron James. Unless you realistically think that Scola would have urges numbers playing with james and wade. And I would be completely shocked if you believed you would. what's the old saying about players putting up big numbers on bad teams as the primary scorer?

Look I love Scola, but let's not be too homeriffic.

Bosh is the better player while Scola is the better value...simple as that.

bosh would have averaged 25+ ppg, 10+ rpg, on 55%fg in this offensive system. he's tailor-made for adelman's offense.

people who think otherwise are simply haters.

bosh is the most efficient offensive player for the heat, and he has the lowest shot attempts. and he's been 20+, 10+ the past 3 games.

    You people are blind.

Bosh has the ideal skill set to initiate the high post offense. you ever wonder why all of a sudden Hayes sees so much time and actually puts up numbers? It's because he operates the high post effectively. No imagine how potent our offense would be with a 6"11 versatile big man who can actually shoot rather than a 6"6 center with limited offensive skills.

Bosh here would of jumped to Chris webber status and would of been money.
