In light of his interview and the great shape he reported in what do you think the Rockets should pay him? Do you think we should get the deal done before the season or wait until he proves himself (more) over time?
Sign him now for more than Taylor, Cato, and Norris. This team is set the rebuilding is over. Wait for the Taylor Cato Norris and Rice's contracts to expire (because who else want's them) and then you can go out and spend money to rebuild again. This starting line up can win championships with time and the retirement of Shaq: PG Francis SG Mobley SF Thomas (Mad Dawg) PF Griffin C Ming
I don't even think we can sign him to a big contract without paying a lot of money because of the tax. Also have to factor in that Eddie Griffin, Yao, and maybe Boki may want some big bucks later on. I would probably like to extend his contract, and see if he wants to return for a cheap price later on. Obviously, if he's one heck of a SF, I'll probably reconsider.
If KT will proved to be fit in 3 spot, I really think that he deserved to be a ROCKS in years to come!
KT is awesome. He averaged what 90 and 50 last year right? Sign him to the quintuple max contract, where we pay him 50 mill/year for 20 years. I guess that comes out to a billion dollar contract. We need him badly. We have no depth at PF or SF. He is a must. 6 ft 7 PFs are a luxury to have in the NBA. Especially ones who get called for traveling a lot, and ones who shoot 10% on layups.
I think his value is probably somewhere around the midlevel exception. A 6-year extension starting at $4 million and ending at $6.5 million a year seems to be adequate for his services and not too burdensome on the team. However, with our proximity to the luxury tax, I'm not sure the Rockets can afford such a contract. I'm betting he'll ultimately get a contract starting around $3 million because of financial pressures. I think we should give him an extension. A year from now, someone will offer most or all the midlevel exception to him and we will have to do a S&T or re-sign him or let him walk for nothing. Letting him walk seems like a bad idea, so we may as well sign him now (if we can get any premium on the mid-level exception price) and have a little more flexibility when it comes to trading him next year (removes Thomas' involvement in saying yea or nay to any team we might want to trade him to).
Ok people get real. Kenny does not have the speed to keep up with the other SF's. I like Kenny but there is no way that he is a 3.
Sorry...there's no way they should give him an extension until they can determine whether he can handle the small forward position. And unless he gets enough minutes to prove he is totally vital to this team's success, I don't think we should resign him at all. There's just too many bad contracts we have, and too many youngsters who will be demanding contract extensions in the future.
The future at PF is Griffin. The future at SF is Boki. KT would be great backup to both in the future, but don't pay anymore than the REAL future starters.
A good team needs good role/backup players and we need Kenny. Better to keep him long term now than going on the lookout for a replacement. Didn't Les say he would be willing to pay the luxery tax if it means putting a winning team together?
YETTI - I concur, having just read Boki's journal (guys don't have diaries) I am now applying for v/p of his fan club. We don't need Odom! Boki is going to be huge for us!!! You rarely see someone with an honest and good hearted passion for the game, and I believe he is just as excited to be a Rocket. The personal note, post workout, sent to Rudy and CD should have tipped me off to it. What can I say, I'm a little slow... GO BOKI!!!! GO ROCKETS!!! Thanks, Yetti, for the therapy.
I think last season was a big test for KT who not only played numerous position when lots of players were down and Kenny did a tremendous job on his part hassling on end to end of the court. He is an asset!!
Sometimes the future is never ready to be the present. Then you look back in the past and wonder if the future was better than the present. Yeah... that's the ticket.
I hope that Mo has a good year this year, which would allow us to trade him in the offseason and re-sign KT for about the MCE to back up Eddie.

This is my final post. Clutch banned me last time for giving my honest opinion, I was D.Illest1. He runs this site like some kind of boys club for those who agree with him, well I don’t agree. What has Boki or Griffin done? Nothing, but you people are convinced that they will be great based on potential. I really love clutchcity.net it is the best site of its kind. The only thing I don't like is the lack of freethinking of its patrons. I'm tired of the talk of potential, and the lack of loyalty to those who work hard to better themselves. It is true that Griffin Taylor and the like my have more god given talent than Kenny but who works the hardest. All great teams had that workhorse guy who did what others didn't want to i.e. Mario Elie and Otis Thorpe. Kenny is a hard worker and deserves your respect. I doubt he will get what he is worth and for that the Rockets will suffer in the long run. I will never forget the night Kenny got 19 boards against the Kings that was more exciting than 100 Francis dunks. I will always be a Rockets fan, but when he leaves and plays the Rockets, he will not be the only one saying I told you so. I can’t wait to see him pimp weak a$$ Griffin. But what would you PEOPLE know you probably don't even play ball. D.A.W.P
You got a bigger chip on your shoulder then Houstonians. Anyway, I think KT is a big part of the Rockets plans. Starting Lineup: c - Kato pf- Mo Taylor sf - G Rice sg Mobley pg - Francis bench: pf - griffin sm - KT pg - moochie c - Yao That's the rotation 10 and 11 will be Tito and Boki and 12 is up for grabs. Don't expect to see Boki and Tito outside of garbage time though..and Rudy is notorious for not playing rookies many minutes at all. Actually, most coaches are. Yao will be back up until he proves he is a significant upgrade over Kato, and that probably won't happen until the second half of the season at the earliest. In any case, with a nine man rotation, the rockets will be one of the deepest teams in the league.
