My girlfriend has her navel pierced and she has had it done for about 3-4 years she says. Well once she went back to get the jewelry switched out (I believe it was about 2 weeks after she had the piercing done.) she never took the new jewelry out. So basically she has had the same piece in for about 3 years now. Well she has tried to take it out but it seems stuck now. After I took a close look at it, it appears that her skin is attached to the jewelry on the bottom part on the inner part of the navel. Could this be the reason why her jewelry won't come out? Has anybody heard of this happening before? She's scared that she may have to get it cut out and she really doesn't want that. Does anybody know of any websites that could give me any new info on the subject. I have found several websites but they just warn about infection and that's about it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Ouch! I'm afraid I'm not well-versed enough in piercing to give you any advice, but I did find a website you may want to check out: http://www.tribalectic.com/Home.asp

They seem to have a pretty active bulletin board. You could try posting your question there and see if anyone can help. Good luck! :)

Can she move, turn the jewelery without a problem?

No it won't go up and down and it won't spin either.

I'm no expert, but I did get infected with my piercings once.

Got both of my ears pierced last year. They were fine for about four weeks. Then one day while sleeping my left ear stud got caught up in the blanket. Nothing much I though. I just felt a twinge and it cameout in less then a sec.

    No biggie I thought.

By night my earlobe is about three to four times its normal size. I ice it for hours, but to no avail. A second day goes by and now my stud has completely embedded itself into the ear. Skin has started to grow on top of it and you cant even see the diamond anymore. Only one stud in the right ear.

Had to go to the doctor and she had to perform some mini-surgical procedure in her office. Hurted like a b****! :(

She went on to tell me how dangerous piercings are and how my case is normal and no where close to the worst one.

Well that was enough to scare the hell out of me! And to think I was actually thinking about getting my eyebrow pierced.

I had a similiar problem once when I hadn't taken my earring out for a long time. It felt like it was stuck but when I twisted it, it came free...sometimes the skin tries to attach to it if the piercing hasn't been moved in a long time.

If the skin won't unattach after a firm twist, then maybe it's time to get a doc to look at it..

Aren't you supposed to regularly take out the jewelry for cleaning?

Just wondering. Maybe a piercing place can take it out without the need for a doctor.
