http://www.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22748484/26025222 Elton Brand may be gone for a bit Posted on: November 24, 2010 12:04 Sixers big loses his cool against JaVale freaking McGee, likely faces fine and/or suspension.Posted by Matt Moore Elton Brand's been having a pretty decent year so far. Sure, the Sixers are a miserable collection of uninspired players with limited talent trying to find their way with a coach who isn't connecting with them. But he's playing allright. Not worth his contract, but pretty well. So it's high time he did something phenomenally stupid, right? That's how this works? What's on the menu? Let's see. "Develop addiction to Cheetos." No, that's Baron Davis' thing. Hmm, "Try and use steroids to help comeback." Nope, Rashard already did that. Ah, here we go. "Let JaVale freaking McGee get into your head and mess with you." Honestly. Brilliant. During a tense back and forth game between the Sixers and Wizards tonight, Brand lost his cool in the midst of McGee's best night of the season (24 points, 18 rebounds) and committed a flagrant two which led to an automatic ejection. Brand faces a likely fine and possible suspension for the two-handed shove on McGee. Check it out.
Damn, you couldn't tell who was the young guy and who was the seasoned vet. WHat the hell happened to Elton Brand? I thought for years he was a lot like TD when it came to professionalism and maturity.
What are you talking about? That looks like much ado about nothing. He didn't even look mad when he did it. No easy baskets. You remember that rule. It was a stupid foul because it got him ejected but it looked borderline accident. Like he misjudged what he misjudged and misthought what he was trying to do. Even Mcghee didn't look angry. I game suspension. The title is misleading as is the article.
Way to blow something out of proportion... Yeah, it probably was a flagrant 2, but I can't see him missing more than a maximum of 2 games (though I don't think he should miss any at all). The fall made it seem like it was worse than it was.
Looks exactly like this. I don't remember there being a huge deal made of it back then. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pk0MPyiJBbc?fs=1&hl=en_US&start=214"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Pk0MPyiJBbc?fs=1&hl=en_US&start=214" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
It wasn't maliciously dirty....but it was irresponsibly unnecessary and dangerous. Deserved the F-2. What bothered me was that Brand didn't even have the class to check on/apologize to McGee. Stinks being the biggest contract albatross in the league.
If you watch a better video, McGee waves bye-bye to Brand before he begins writhing on the ground in "pain". No need to apologize to someone like that. You could also tell by Brand's face that is was mostly an "aww s**t" moment, not really anything vicious. Should get 1 game.
b**** move, but not thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat bad. 1-2 week suspension if it were up to me. maybe stern might make it longer to send a message.
From the title I thought he went on a rampage and was going to be in jail for a couple of years, not that he pushed somebody and may get a game suspension.
