As the Kings are under the cap. They're probably looking at the Rockets current state, intending to offer to absorb Jeffries's contract. That is, for giving up Brooks, Rockets get under the tax.
Then add one of the tons of 1st round picks the Rockets have, to make it happen, add money, add the salary exception...sutff like that...
I guess everyone missed the memo awhile back when I said brooks was their #1 target. The kings will not give up real value for brooks because they feel they can get him without compensation in the offseason. Now thats not to say they wouldnt trade a position they're overloaded at like sf or pf/c. The rockets could get casspi for brooks or thompson for brooks, but they wont get both and they wont get a pick. As soon as the labor deal thing goes through, they will offer brooks 9-10m per and play him alongside evans and package beno up with thompson, casspi,or green. If posters dont believe me,they dont have too,but Brooks is their #1 target, period!
Of course he is, he is a great player.....he should be their number 1 target. Doesn't mean that Morey will give him up, though. DD
I was wondering who had posted all that info about the Kings and Brooks. But I do think the Kings are delusional if they think they can get Brooks in the offseason, as if the Rockets will just let him walk.
They're under the cap - I'll give them Brooks (or Lowry) for a TE and a protected first. Most likely, the protection would need to be lottery this year, top 3 the next, unprotected after. That, or they can have Brooks, Jeffries, and Miller for Sam Dalembert and a second rounder. It's time to tear down this failed roster. Clean house, maybe hold onto Hill, Scola, and Martin. Everyone else is beyond flushable.
I would keep Brooks over any one else on the entire roster.....he is not the problem on this team. DD
Brooks for an inside player who can play D is not a bad deal... A 2 way PG who can fit better for the team could be gotten later (Hinrich?)....but anyway, trading Brooks should be analyzed, while he still has good value. In the current Rockets roster, paired up with KMart...his trade value only options is getting each time lower...so, IMO, trade him ASAP, and get the best possible assets in return...(Cousins would be the perfect trade, no matter what more assets are needed to make it happen).
if were going to trade AB, we can get better players than what the kings would likely Offer, if Cousins is not involved, me do not want.
And yet you consider Martin fool's gold? I'll take the guy that needs 14 shots to tally 23 points over the one that needs 13 to get 16. They're both swinging doors on defense. Brooks is a PG that can't set up anyone. Find me a midget shoot-first PG that was a consistent winner over his career and I'll show you 15 others that were losers throughout. Brooks is only going to be a productive guy on lottery teams low on talent, unless he starts coming off the bench.
No, because neither player is any better than Brooks, they are different but they are not better.... I guess if you were going to blow up the entire roster and start over then maybe Cousins etc...... But right now....Brooks is our best player, there is a reason they want him...... It is staggering how so many people undervalue AB.....he and Scola are the closest players we have to all stars on the team. Trade them, sure, but for an upgrade not a maybe. DD
Agree, he would be ideal 6th man, we need a legit PG on this team who can run the offense and hit an open shot.
Just not true, Brooks plays decent defense.....especially against the better PGs in the league and he makes them work on both ends....Kevin only plays one end of the floor. Also not true, he has become a pretty good setup guy. Who is also a threat to score. Irrelevence is still irrelevence......we are talking about Brooks, not others..... Ah, yes, the crux of your post....you want Lowry to start....well..how is that working out for ya? DD
Brooks is not the problem, but if you have a chance to get a star, you go for it, and Cousins is the only player on their roster I would trade him for straight up. You can't get too attached to your own players, especially when the team is not a championship contender. Depending on their record I might do it for Landry and a 1st but I'm hoping Hill can fill that role.
Use Brooks to get Landry back, then package Jordan Hill and a few assets in a trade with another team to get a decent SF.
