No BS. Does anyone know of a homeopathic cure (no insurance) cure for an earache that is proven to be effective? Change in air pressure is the main trigger. Have not had any drainage or illness lately. Sharp, shooting, piercing pain from ear, down neck and up side of head. One ear only.

Get some phenylephrine 10mg aka Sudafed PE from any OTC section in the pharmacy. If this reduction in pressure is not helping after a day or two, then you will need to get it checked.

Also, please be cautious with any type of homeopathic cures, as most of them are as effective as placebo treatments.

Have had this problem before in college. Ear feels like it is literally ice cold to the touch and in extreme pain. Pressure above and below actual ear. Sharp, piercing, and excruciating.

If it isn't a bacterial thing, but rather something caused by some kind of mechanical/structural problem then it sounds like you might need surgery to fix this.

Is part of why I stopped playing. Went to a doc who informed me I had spina bifida occulta. The nerve endings, according to him, were causing these sensations. Ear is plugged, right now, with olive oil and a cotton swab...which has stopped the pain for now.

I have had actual ear infections(too zealous with the Q-tip) and the only way I found to cure it was antibiotic ear drops. Unfortunately they are very expensive. Swelling was the main issue when I had it. I assume you have used Motrin/Ibuprofen to help the pain. If there is any swelling those will greatly help.
