Look at me, I avoided the question (even though it wasnt addressed to me). Rick is capable of winning at the highest level. The problem is the Rocket's problem lay in the players', coaches', and GM's. Our bench isn't performing to the level that last year's, we again don't have a "closer, and our defensive has slipped. I'm sorry, but at some point, as a rational human being; one need to see this is problem at every level. Not doing so is just being another idiot in the GARM. There are plenty of resources to keep current on NBA and Rockets happenings.
People change, they can get better at their jobs or they can get worse at their jobs. What he did over 10 years ago isn't really indicative of his coaching ability now. There is also the very legitimate issue of players tuning the coach out. No matter how good you are it won't help if the players aren't listening to what you say.
I already visited those blogs, but to think a coach change wouldn't jump start the team...is also saying changing coaches have never led to success. We can blame the roster, we can blame DM.....but Rick had the same unit minus Landry/Ariza last year and we never looked this bad. If we think Rick had nothing to do on bringing Miller or KM to this team, thats like saying JVG didn't bring in his ex-NY players. A coach has some say on what his Roster should like.
Right on. Better than listening to "It's not Rick's fault, he found success in Portland/Kings and almost won a championship"
Fans have never been in control.....we can only develop theories. All I know is, if you are rebuilding Rick ain't staying. He is too old and isn't going to stay through another rebuild era. .....but whatever, were just fans.
How can this be a knee-jerk thread when we have been saying this for the past 2 weeks. Some of you guys need to stop making excuses for Adelman. It's obvious he is not doing a good enough job with this team. The man in my sig would make it happen!
It couldn't simply be that the players (besides k. martin and l. scola) aren't playing as well as indicated as those sources you claim to read? As well as the defense. I can post it if you want me to? point? Absolutely correct. But making the corrections you suggest could possibly make us worse. With negotiations going on within (cba) it could be the worst time to try to rebuild through the draft so why should the Rocket's try? Too many uncertainties has happened so far, so why stray from the plan? Try to win now if we can The season is still early and I'm still waiting for at least the 20 game mark to make an educated guess about the Rocket's future. There is still time to to at least make the playoffs and still be a wild card. I guess it depends on what your fancy is.
My apologies... I was meaning things have gotten out of control for Rick in response to the post, for those who missed the point.
We have to win 47 games out of 69. We won't see AB for at least 10-12 of those games. If you think we will need to rebuild after this season, than you need to understand Rick isn't staying. Rick is not going to spend the next 3 more years rebuilding @ his age. Especially when he is still seeking his 1st championship. So why prolong the relationship? To see if we can have another medicore 40-48 win season?
And Rockets didn't even offer an extension to Rick......how do we know this is effecting his ability to coach?
i am afraid there are't many candidates out there..Rick may be accountable for some of the losses...but with Yao and AB out, we are only mediocre..can't you guys see that?? mediocre!!! u guys have too much expectations on a bunch of role players...
I would assume that Rick wouldn't be here for a rebuilding process. If things go truly south then I would expect use to rebuild through both the draft and fa, but would largely depend on fa, for the reason i mentioned earlier. Otherwise things become much more complicated.
Van Gundy isn't going to come out of retirement for a rebuilding project. Adelman will likely leave after this season and we're going to have to get a young coach that will hopefully grow into the job as the team rebuilds.
This thread is funny. The players just aren't very good, plus the team has been hit hard by injuries.
I think it was said earlier in this thread so I'll repeat it for emphesis. Rick isn't the one out there turning the ball over.
Then why do we even have a head coach on the payroll if he doesn't play any role in the performance of the team?
If we don't make the playoffs this year, I won't be surprised if he isn't our head coach next season, but then again who is good candidate out there to take on the head coaching job, I can't think of anyone other than JVG, but still I don't think it'll a possibility.
