Did you ever get the feeling that Hakeem has been jealous regarding all this
    hype about Yao?

I mean, it's almost like we "shipped" him off to Canada and then go
out and get a "replacement" center: Yao Ming!

Ok, we don't know what Yao will become, but still. I was just looking
    at it from Hakeem's point-of-view.

Hakeem is a proud man. I really hope he doesn't take it this way.

    I really want him to come back to Houston in some form or another;
working for the Rockets or media.

He's a legend! And we owe him!

Owe him what? The only thing we owe him for is that fact that he trashed the organization and Rudy T upon leaving Houston for Toronto.

The titles we won were 8 and 9 years ago. Hakeem's disgraceful attitude in Houston was from 99 to 01. Hakeem would have my full support, if he took the high road, and shut his mouth up when he left here.

I don't want any turncoats coming back to the organization.

I have 20X's more respect for Drexler than Olajuwon. We would not have won a title without Drexler in 95. As well as the fact that Drexler hasn't really gone out of his way to bash the organization, or demand to be traded to Toronto, when he's clearly over the hill. Drexler left the game with dignity, Olajuwon left Houston and the game of basketball with disgrace.

I have this feeling in my gut that Dream believes every word his agent says, and that he's most responsible for the bad blood between the two sides

You can't tell me that bloodsucker wasn't filling Dream's ear with "You can play; the Rockets are lowballing you" etc

    $$$$!

Well, Dream has always been like this though, going back to the late 80s. So, unless he's had the same agent all this time (I doubt it), the onus is on Dream.

Also, Dream is like 40 years old. Usually the agents only really mislead 18 year old HS kids who think they can play in the NBA. A 40 year old man should be able to make decisions for himself. Money has always been the bottom line for Dream, agent or no agent.

I see it being more about respect for Dream... maybe I just can't see my fav player of all time as being a greedy b*stard

I think Dreams pride was hurt when he was hearing his agent tell him the Rockets offer was bunk, and he can get more elsewhere

well... it's my memory and that's what's going in it!:p

I never thought the Rockets organization did wrong by Hakeem, but I understand why he reacted how he did. The pride that made him such a dominant player also made him hang on a little too long. It has happened to the best of them and nothing Hakeem has done the last few years can tarnish his brilliant legacy. Cut him some slack.

It is Hakeem's ego and pride that ran him out of Houston. So let him stay out of here. I will never forgive him for the jabs he took at Rudy T and the Rockets org. after he left

I'm not finding an ignore list very useful when you still see the quotes.

I don't like what Hakeem said as he left the rockets either, but I still think we owe him. Damn he is the only reason we have any kind of championships in this town. Give the f#*king guy some respect.

I have been Watching Hakeem since 1986 when we made it to the finals against the Celtics and Bird spanked us. If any of you guys recall, Hakeem would always bring up contract negotiations because he didnt feel he was being treated fairly over the late 80's. I guess when no one in the NBA can stop you , you feel like you deserve more, I dont blame him but i do know that he is not work the 28 million he signed for to play for toronto, Maybe back in the early 90's he was but not now. Just something that was on my mine.:p

he would have probably been able to hit the three if we would have used him that way. I remember during the '95 western con. finals he was nailing 20'er's with the greatest of ease.

I respect Hakeem for all he has done for the Houston Rockets. Despite the way I feel about how he is leaving I will always say that Hakeem is my fave player of all time. Despite what he has done to the rockets u have to realise that he brought us two championships and if u feel differently to b honest I don't give a rat's a$$. Anyways I just want Hakeem to b recognise as one of the greastest centers/players of all time.

    Guys,

Take it easy. Let him go.

IF Hakeem finds a place with Rockets as coach, media or front office, let it be becasue he is good at, not becasue we are still repaying his kindness to let us have tw championships.

He sure is the reason why we had those two championships. That kind of got nullififed with the 13-17 Millions he was making in years he was below par, and the pot shots he took at Rudy and the Rockets lat year.

I dont think he is going to be a great media guy - becuase he is quintessentially successful when he lets action speak louder than words. In fact he fails miserably when he lets his mouth do the work for him. (I suspect Barkely, SMith, Bull...had significantly higher potential with their mouths at any stage of thier lives)

I think bringing him as a coach is a posibility though I doubt that as well...Maybe they will to sell a few more tickets.
