there comes a time when players tune a coach out. i would give adelman at least half a season before i can truly say that but he's been terrible thus far as the team is soft and lacks discipline. that's the identity of our team and that usually reflects on the coach
We have starting lineup of bench players and have lost two of the toughest players from the team from the last two years. If you think any other coach would have worked magic with this team, you are delusional. Our bigger priority right now is getting some quality athletic players on this team.
You guys really expect Adelman to take this terrible roster and make them some kind of playoff team? Just because this board overrates our entire roster doesn't make that overrated value reality. This is a bad team (especially with Yao and Brooks out), end of story. You can get whichever coach you want and it won't magically turn this team into a good one.
Terrible roster? Maybe if RA hasn't been making coaching mistake after coaching mistake you would have grounds for this argument. Jordan hill is having a career game but we're down by 5 with only 5 mins to go. Why? Because he's only played 16 minutes all game. But the rockets suck! Its terrible! No talent on the team at all *looks at PP in the d-league*
Right now, Houston Rockets are exactly like the Dallas Cowboys of 1-7. The players simply lost faith in the head coach. So a coach change at this point would definitely help win more games.
We're 3-10 and now. I hate to break it to you, but changing substitution patterns and playing Jordan Hill more is not suddenly going to make us good. We're one of the worst teams in the league, not an average team that, with a tweak here or there, can be good. It's been 13 games, this isn't a fluke, we are this bad. We lost to Toronto, Phoenix at home, Washington, etc. We just don't have a good team. The sooner management realizes this, makes changes, and actually puts together a roster that has two-dimensional players and athletic guys, the sooner things will get better.
This is exactly what I'm talking about. In the first half, people went crazy on Adelman because he put the starters back in rather than leaving the "hot players" in there. In the second half, Adelman leaves Hill and Miller in there because they were playing well... and now people are complaining about Scola not being in there. And you see, there's a reason he put Battier in there with Kevin Martin. If you have Lee with Martin... then Lee has to handle the ball a lot more than he should. Battier is much better at moving the ball to where it needs to go when Martin is moving without it.
Wow.. Yall Adelman haters are crazy.. What the heck do you expect the guy to do with what he's got on the court right now? No Aaron Brooks No Yao Lowry, Battier and Budinger couldnt hit a shot if they were shooting in the ocean This is almost like the team he had in Sacramento in 2005-2006 led by Miller and Martin. At this point.. Morey needs to re-evaluate this roster and definitely make some moves. I don't think a coaching change is the answer.
Rick wouldn't even know how to use them correctly. He would be so busy switching them in and out of the lineup. As soon as they get hot, he subs them. When they need a breathier, he keeps them in the game longer....... This is the same guy who allowed Yao to play 13-15 minutes straight in his 2008-2009 rotation. Give him a 7 min breather and asked him to play another 5 minutes to close the quarter. Repeat this in the 2nd half. Are you fking kidding me, asking a Giant 7-6 guy play 13-15 minutes straight.......
Nice post. Lots of substance going on here. I've been watching Adelman repeat the same mistakes for years now. I'd rather not rely on twenty-two game win streaks and mid season turn arounds to bring this team up to standard.

How about...use words from SAT vocab practice in internet argument to try and prove a point that isn't there! One doesn't have to measure every stat to realize that Adelman's rotations and substitution policies are below par. Why is our fourth quarter production so horrible? Probably because Adelman's late game execution strategies are terrible. How many times have we lost late games because of terribly drawn out plays?

As far as you go: Spoiler

Martin, Battier, and Scola are starters. Hayes and Miller are/have been starters for many years. The only one you could argue is a bench player is Lowry, but considering the money we are paying him, he should be an adequate starter. I think that another coach would have at least had them playing defense to some extent. Hill/Lee/Bud/Ish are athletic players. If they are quality or not is up for debate, but I guess it doesn't bode too well when Bud has been playing like he has. Hill has been the brightest spot on the team for me thus far. Lee is doing very well too considering he is new to the team and it's a brand new system. He will come around soon enough. Ish is a pleasant surprise and I hope he continues to do well.

I'm not getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to manage the team. I'm just voicing my complaints as a fan.

You again? Same post as last time....
Anybody! Just naming Turner the interim head coach would achieve a much better result. The players have lost faith in RA. You would underperform if you don't have any confidence.
The fire Adelman crowd need to seriously think if that will really solve our woes, it's not going to make Yao more healthy nor make the struggling players play better. Complain about the substitution patterns, but no amount of right substitution can solve players not getting the job done. I didn't see the players open a can of quit tonight, they played hard but as usual, couldn't get the key rebound, made the same boneheaded mistakes, and couldn't make the key shot.
