Mitsubishi Lancer raliiart with the sport back. No no, i dont have a preference for mitsubishi since I drive and love my beat up benz but its practical and reliable
After having our 4th child last december, we needed more room. We had a nissan xterra, but 2 booster seats and a new car seat required more room. It came down to a chevy traverse, honda pilot, gmc arcadia, toyota highlander all with 3rd row. Found a 08 highlander with leather seats,30k miles for 19k. Wife loves it and its pretty good on gas. Wrote the check took it home.
I just call up the dealer and tell them I have financing through my credit union then tell them I need the best price on the specific model with whatever options. Call around like 5 places get them to talk each other down then go pick it up. Still takes like 3-4 hours of BS to actually get the car though. NO I DON"T WANT RUST COATING DUMMY!
Really depends on the dealership. When I was helping my friend purchase one, the first dealership was full of BS and didn't even honor the price he told me over email. Wasted a few hours with him and decided we would be better off trying a diff. dealership. Went to another dealership who offered the same deal and everything went smooth. Even got on a promotion they had for free tint/floor mats/wheel locks and trunk tray that we weren't suppose to get because it wasn't a part of the deal. I emailed the president of the dealership requesting it and he was nice enough to give it to her. We also got to shake hands and talk to the president of Goodson Honda (the old guy with hot chicks in his commercials)
Yes, they still ran my credit. I got my scores to make sure I would be able to get the low financing. If they would have tried to not offer it to me, I had those as "proof"...
The Fusion had good financing available at the time too. I picked the Accord mainly on reliability. I had a 2001 Civic that I put 125k miles on, and it was still running very well. I was checking resale value on Accords vs Fusion, and that led me to the Accord as well, although I plan on keeping this car for a long time, so that may not mean much by the time I sell it (2020 or so...). I really liked the Fusion, and was pretty pleased with it after the drive, although I never really got comfortable driving it. I have had one as a rental since, and it feels the same. It seems like there are a lot of blind spots or something. It also had a bit more road noise than the Accord. I liked the Fusion better than the Camry. I'm not much of a car person, and I thought all 3 cars were fine to drive. I like the look of the Accord better than Camry, kind of like the Fusion a little more than both. I'm plenty happy with the Accord though. Its really big...which is a good thing for the family. I got the 4 cylinder since I drive about 60miles round trip to/from work each day, and gas mileage has been good too.
I had a Fusion as a company car this summer. It is quite simply the best mid-sized non-luxury car I have ever driven. It has the most comfortable seats that anyone has ever put in a car, which is the most important part of any car that no one notices on a test drive. There is nothing better than getting out of a car after a 5 hour drive and not having any aches or pains. My next car will be a truck, but if I were looking at another passenger car, my search would start and end there.
I get back pain on my left side that radiates into my leg when I drive more than 60 miles in the Fusion. I've never had that with any other car, but I do not blame the Fusion either.
Thanks guys for the info on the fusion. I have a 70 mile round trip commute and I want something that gets good to great MPG.
Car shopping does suck!!! The salesmen can be so annoying and they make it almost impossible to buy a car without being stressed out..
I got a family of 3 with an extended cab Tacoma and it handles just fine on road trips. But I am planning on upgrading to a double cab once our other car is paid off. I figure that should be plenty of room, especially for when the kid(s) get older. Could never get anything other than a truck.
