How do you think they'll solve the imaginary gas/brake/clutch pedal and shifter? In a racing game where split second actions can result in you crashing or going off the road, how will that work with the Kinect and its input delay?
The truth <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dREGCHLhh5c?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dREGCHLhh5c?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
I hope so, that's the only way I'd play this thing. Basically splitting the 50". This is all I could really find: Support for 1-4 local players (split screen) and 16 online Races can support up to 16 players online, but you can also create private lobbies, which can hold up to 32 racers http://www.ps3blog.net/2010/06/16/sony-releases-fact-sheet-for-gran-turismo-5/
I'm getting this but I can't help but feel having only 20% of the cars having every feature is a bit of a let down. After 6 years in development you would think they wouldn't have to stoop to this.
That's the only negative I can come up with also. BUT when you compare what you're getting with the "premium cars" instead of just having some copy/paste interior for ALL cars, then it's hard to complain. 200 models with accurate interiors, hi/lo beams, and detail specific damage models with a likelihood of more via DLC is very welcome. Anyways, here's a list of what cars are standard (S) and premium (P). http://www.sonyinsider.com/2010/11/15/the-full-list-of-cars-in-gran-turismo-5/
I think the console controls the gas/brake from what I saw. It's meant for people goofing off in time attack mode, not for people who think they're actually driving a McLaren or Pagani when they fire up a game. Lol.
Like this? I saw it and thought of you <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KWbLOFGSEDo?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KWbLOFGSEDo?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
so this may be a dumb question, but how essential is getting a wheel for a game like this. i always played nfs and burnout with a controller just fine, so am i gonna be missing much? spending 150+ on a wheel for one game seems a bit much for me.
wheel is a totally different experience bro, if you are serious about playing this game you should get a wheel. NFS and burnout are arcade racers, gt5 is pure simulation.
I'm even considering buying that ps camera for the cool but probably useless head tracking. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uaCpTbltf5M?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uaCpTbltf5M?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> Unless you want a top quality wheel, you won't be spending that much. A driving force GT shouldn't be more than 60-70. If you want to buy a stand like the realstand pro then that's another 60 I think, but it's not necessary.
Son of a... I've always been content to play with the controller...but now I've watched too many YouTube videos of people playing it on force feedback steering wheels. Oh well. I guess in the most basic sense, money was made to be spent...right?
I just received my email saying my game is on hold for me and will be ready for pickup tomorrow. Kinda psyched! Sitting in front of the TV for 10 straight hours trying to just get a driving license. Awesome.
Once I tried it with the wheel, I've never gone back to the controller. It was great with the Prologue, and I'm stoked for the new one. I even had the wife stock up on some eye drops for the 4-6 minute intervals of not blinking.
Some best buys are sold out of ce preorders. I was able to secure one last night at the location near my home. Reading the GT5 thread on neogaf got me hyped. The people who played it so far are loving it.
Could you online? I ordered and paid for it on their website, just waiting for tomorrow to pick it up.
I reserved a CE copy online, maybe I'll sell the dlc on ebay. The two stores I went to, sharpstown and first colony, didn't have the boxes out and when I asked they told me I can only do it online. The printout to pickup is already in my car ready to go. Who's playing it already? Europe?
I had to preorder it from the kiosk. I think that's how they do all the preorders in store now. The difficulty is finding the kiosk. There's a huge touch screen where you select the system/game you want to preorder and it prints out a preorder ticket. You take the ticket to the cashier and pay the $5 to reserve it. You can go to their website online to see which store is still taking reservations. If you weren't able to get one of the gt5 preorder boxes with the GT-R code inside, I found out that they will email you the code after you purchase it.
