FYI... The Rockets are #8 in the league when it comes to rebounding. There's not much that a frail SG can do to improve that. The only bright spots this team has had all season are: Ish Smith, Luis Scola, and Kevin Martin. And the latter two WILL be allstars this years... imo
Where did you get that stat? I need to do some research on this because I don't think you're using team rebounding percentage.
Okay, that stat is misleading. The Rockets as a team grab 70.7% of all defensive rebounding opportunities that they have during a game. That's only better than 7 other teams. So when it comes to grabbing a defensive rebound, they're ranked 23rd out of 30 teams. As for offensive rebounding, the Rockets grab 26.0% of all offensive rebounding opportunities which ties them with OKC for 17th best in the NBA. That's still the bottom half of offensive rebounding percentage. Overall, the Rockets grab 48.8% of all rebounds during their games, which ties them with Cleveland for the 23rd best overall rebounding team in a 30 team league. All in all, the Rockets have sucked at rebounding the ball this year. This is a bigger problem statistically than their defense, which is average.
I missed a clutch wide open layupup on 2k11 with Courtney Lee. it looked eerily similar to when lee missed the layup in the finals two seasons ago in real life. only difference was that he had on a rockets uniform! i also had the ball stolen from me twice in the fourth. it looked shockingly similar to when ginobili ripped courtyney for the fast break. only difference was that richard jefforson (which makes it even worse) picked my (lee's) pocket in the game.
He only has the 2nd highest point per minute ratio in the NBA. The guy ahead of him is some guy named Kobe.
He has the 2nd highest point per minute ratio in the NBA, but he cann't change the game. When the team needs him to score, he weill be silence
Oh and Kmart is one of the best scorers in the game right now, people who say things like "he doesn't score when we need him to" don't know anything about basketball lmao. A point at the very beginning of the game is equal to a point at the very end of a game.
The rebound area for guards are free throw line extended. If you were to draw a line from the free throw line straight accross, everything from there to midcourt is for the guards. Martin already has his mind on getting up the court before securing long rebounds. Thats part of the reason the rockets have been out rebounded. If they had quickness to the ball in the front court, thats one thing, buut they dont.
Now we know who dont know crap about basketball with that comment. All point are not created equal and thats why martin in a 2nd tier type of player. Basketball is about impact players making impact plays. The jumper rudy gay made over lebron was 2 of 15,but those 2 were made in what is called high leverage moments. The really good players can stop or start a run in those games. The high leverage moment doesnt have to be in the 4th qt either. Team a could be in control by 8 at the end of the 3rd,but team b is making baskets. The prime time player is the guy making plays and keeping that lead at 8pts or even helping increase the lead. If you dont get that, I'm running camps in the spring again.
You can imagine the concept of "high leverage moments" all you want, a point that makes the game 2-0 is equal to a point that wins the game at the buzzer. A game doesn't come down to the buzzer if players take good shots and score as efficiently as possible. The only reason you think that there are "high leverage moments" is because the Rockets play no D, so the other team will inevitably make a run. The only thing keeping Kmart from being a top tier player is complete lack of defense. Most stars play very good defense, that's why their teams succeed so often.
I think points per possession, it's middle of the pack. But either way, it's not good. And since the opponents get more possessions per game than the Rockets because of poor rebounding, it's looks even worse than it is.
