Lyoto v. Rampage 2? only if Machida agrees to limit his steps backwards to a 4:1 ratio of his forward steps...
Honestly, aren't there other fights that would be better for fans than a Machida Jackson rematch? This fight was just okay to watch.
i dont get the knocks on machida backing up, have you seen him fight before? thats his style, he looks to counter. is it any worse than boxers who lock up every 2 seconds and have to be split apart?
Rampage is a savage. Easily my favorite fighter in the game... heavy-handed, aggressive, and full of personality. He's very limited offensively, as Rogan said, "if he catches you, you're going to sleep."
Machida going for the armbar and Rampage picking him up and almost dropping him on his head was vintage Jackson. Could've been more exciting but good to see Rampage still got it.
Jackson took the first two rounds -- Machida got a two pt third... Draw. Well, it wasn't a two point third, but Jackson should have got .5 for the first two... Draw.
Machida loosing was his own fault. He played keep away the first 2 rounds and Rampage landed some nice uppercuts when he could. The book on Machida is out he toys with you and trys to make you push the action so you make a mistake so he can light you up. If you hang back on him it will be a boring fight but more then likely you will out point him.
I really wanted to see the winner of Jones/Bader fight take on the winner of this fight for the number one contender. Not sure how Dana is going to treat the outcome of this match though.
Definitely agree. Rampage knew he couldn't be overly aggressive or he would get caught by Machida. Machida really has to start being more aggressive in non championship fights.
True, but it didn't work in Machida's favor tonight... Rampage was pushing the entire fight, and Machida only countered effectively once or twice. He was clearly scared of Jackson's heavy hands, and playing the role of the aggressor is what ultimately got Rampage the decision.
I'm glad Machida lost. Jackson took the first two and Lyoto arguably went 10-8 in the third. Props to the judges for not awarding him for being s puss
I'll be interested to hear what White has to say on the decision. He wasn't shy on his thoughts with Machida-Shogun. Glad BJ won tonight, always been one of my favorite guys.
