I missed this game but it sounds like the Chicago game all over again: bench gets spanked, and the starters play the entire second half and sputter out. How was Ishmael Smith tonight? If the Smith/Lee backcourt looked as bad as it did vs. Chicago, it might be a good idea to start Smith and have Lowry come off the bench, just to give the second unit some stability.
Just came back from ACC.... geez what a shiiiitty night.... Lowry Martin were like dead dead tired towards the end.. while Lee, Ish and Hill are rotting away on the bench.. and RA, the best play you could draw outta a timeout was for Lowry to chuck it up reverse and get swatted?!?!?!
Yup but injuries forced that. Some of the people on this board act like Morey is building the team around Martin.
It's the same story every game... -Hill not getting any PT -Poor defensive execution on critical plays/not getting stops when we need them -Relying on role players to create their own shots at crucial moments in the game (Hayes, Miller, Battier...) For me, the most disappointing part of the season has been seeing the decline in C Bud's game this year. Really thought that he'd break out, but his shooting has been horrendous.
Yes and Brink Miller from the bench too. we can play Scola and Miller together to long. Is like Hill have always have to play with chuck next to him.
Adelman isn't sitting anybody down b/c he loves offense more than defense. That's why Chase was in the game for so long b/c he was hoping he would hit a shot even though he was being absolutely killed by Kleiza.
Leadership is something you have or you don't have it. Martin was not brought in to be a leader he was brought in to compliment Yao. Too bad Yao hasn't rebounded as planned when we traded for Martin.
You think maybe his ankles have had something to do with that? I give him more rope, he proved himself all last year, give him time to come around. DD
I'll agree with this, but also mention the reason why I'm not as overly panicky as everyone else seems to be. As far as I'm concerned, this year has, and has always been with the Rockets, "we are, in his final year, going to roll the dice on Yao one final time". Either it works out, the team clicks, and we go deep into the playoffs, and maybe a ring. Or it doesn't, which is clearly the current scenario. And if it doesn't work, we're in a good position for a rebuild, with a lot of expiring contracts, a high pick (either ours or NY's) and not much in the way of salary albatrosses, aside from Lowry's potentially becoming one if he keep this kind of play up. That's why I frankly don't understand why people are in OMG PANIC PANIC, because I frankly don't see the need to really panic. Either we do well or we don't, and if we don't, we're in a good position to start over. Honestly, I don't see the need for torches or pitchforks unless we resign Yao to a double-digit long-term contract for Chinese money. Then you riot. But until then, you frankly wait and see how things turn out, both with development and getting Brooks and Yao back on the court. Think long-term.
Hill no playing time? = no win. You have to have some athletes to win in the NBA, NFL, and soccer. You cant have a bunch of fundamentally sound nonathletes and just stats. Someone has to have the hops to equal the other teams speedsters and quick athletes. Its like that on every playground in america. You need athletes to win. Scola, Yao, Martin, Battier are just skilled tall guys. Not athletes. Patrick Patterson, Jordan Hill, Ariza, JT, Budinger are athletes. They arent playing enough time? We arent winning.
The bench got owned once again. The team is build on RA's schemes and it is looking like he will have to come up with a new plan. I just don't know what else can be done but trades would be nice to get Mario Elie type of players on the team.
As the losses add up like this more and more, the homers will have to cross over and admit: WE SUCK DONKEY BALL HERPES SORES. Sorry, I just don't have anything constructive to add to the convo here...I'm just venting. I'm not happy about being right (about sucking)...I feel like pulling my damn TV down right now.
