Yeah, they changed their sound a LOT on Comfort Eagle, mixing in a lot of synthesizers. I don't think the hard core Cake fans took to it well. Plus, Rodney McCray did all the drum tracks since their drummer quit the band. It's still a solid CD, though.
Winona Ryder ruled as Bjork on SNL Alex Trebec (Will Ferrell) to Bjork : "Are you icelandic or r****ded?" http://www.saturday-night-live.com/snl/reviews/01-02/ryder/jill.html
If ya'll want to hear a great song that not many people know about download Tiger Woods by Dan Bern. That song is the ultimate sportscentermans psyche song. please do the universe a favor and check it out. If anyone downloads it and doesn't like it I will quit posting here. And no I am not Dan Bern. Then I would say go buy it. I learned about it on a website dedicated to magic mushrooms. Those guys know their music. But I can't take all that drug crap. It was fun at one point but now I get my high from Stevie and Cat. Also the moderators at this site seem like the coolest guys you could meet. Whoa, tangent and a kiss ass. I haven't slept in two days. You can check my posts at all hours of the night as proof. Just got out of a 2 year relationship. It is nice to be able to post here instead of picking up the phone and making a gimp out of myself. Thanks Clutch!
Even though they have a legion of fans, I say Phish is underrated. They're not mainstream at all, so your average Joe has never heard them. Simply the best jam band (and musicians) on the planet. Now they're back together, too! Yippee! Another underrated band is String Cheese Incident (like Rocketman95 pointed out). They can play any style of music and pull it off perfectly. Great band.
Swollen Members (who are huge in canada, but barely known in the US) and Tenacious D (haha...theyre hilarious).
ben harper is starting to get more recognition. everything but the girl i have always liked. queens of the stone age i dont hear that much about. for those who are from austin maybe you remeber ian moore. he lives here in seattle and has really changed his style. very good stuff. i think hell be in austin a week or so.
Interesting. I was curious to see him in concert with Matchbox 20 in Dallas two years ago. I did. I wasn't that impressed. Of course, I am just expressing my own WRONG opinion.
Shuggie Otis never got his due recognition. His debut album "Information Inspiration" (1974) is a classic. He wrote every song and he produced the album himself. As good, if not better than anything Prince ever did. This album has it all, Blues, Jazz and Funk. This treasure slipped by the masses, or maybe Shuggie was just so far ahead of everyone else, nobody (except other musicians) recognized his genius. It has recently been remastered and re-released. Shuggie was often called "Baby Hendrix" Pick up this album/CD and you will see why. http://www.music-critic.com/urban/otisshuggie_inspiration.htm You can listen to samples here: http://www.artistdirect.com/store/artist/album/0,,142487,00.html
I think it's because he is the pre-carnation of Billy Corgan and Weird Al Brilliant, ugly and annoying all in one
