I guess I'm the only person who hates U-Verse. I have it and it's buggy as hell, always going out. Whenever there is a power surge it erases everything from my DVR. Internet is good though. Conversely I never had a problem with Comcast. Customer service was OK too.
I've had the 18MB package from Uverse for a few months and it's been great. You can really get some great deals with Uverse. I was considering both TWC and Uverse, and deals were a lot better for Uverse. They recently added NBA TV to their lineup, but I couldn't get it since it was in higher package than I had. I gave them a call and they upgraded my package and added a monthly credit for the difference on all future bills. No restrictions, no contracts. Their TV interface is also great. One thing about Uverse is, that you HAVE to be close to the vrad box. They won't even install it if you're too far, but really you should be even closer than their limit if you want a problem free experience. Luckily, I was really close by the Vrad, and have no problems with TV or internet service. Usually get between 16-19 Mbps on my 18Mbps plan.
I have Uverse's 18 Meg package.....and that is better than comcast And guess what? No caps! Comcast has bandwidth caps!
Comcast's 15 mb down actually goes 20 down with a boost of close to 30 down. I don't see how that's better. If there is one flaw that Comcast has, it is their cap. But nobody really reaches it unless you download a lot. I've passed it 3 times in 3 months this past year and they haven't done **** to my service so I guess they don't even enforce anything towards going over it.
Interesting reading the comments from both those that have Comcast and U-Verse. Thinking about switching from the 6 mbit plan we have now with ATT Yahoo to the 12 mbit plan with U-Verse. Will post here or somewhere with an update in a few weeks
I'm assuming you've already de-friended Comcast on Facebook. If not, that should be your first step. And if they send someone over with two cans of artichoke hearts as some sort of peace offering, turn them away. And yeah, go with U-Verse.
I've never had an issue with Comcast's broadband service. My speeds are consistently good and I never have to deal with outages. I switched to them 5 years ago or so after getting fed up with the poor performance of DSL. I've never used Comcast for TV though, and I think that's what most people have the headaches with. This is what I'm getting currently. I have the 15 down/3 up plan.
