    Knicks Waive Guard Vernon Maxwell

NEW YORK (AP) - Vernon Maxwell, the much-traveled guard obtained by New York in the trade that sent Patrick Ewing to Seattle, was waived Thursday by the Knicks.

Maxwell played in 47 games for the SuperSonics last season, averaging 10.9 points.

He was involved in the four-team trade that saw the Knicks receive Glen Rice from the Los Angeles Lakers and Luc Longley from the Phoenix Suns while sending Ewing to the Sonics. Among the other major players moving were Horace Grant from Seattle to Los Angeles and Chris Dudley from New York to Phoenix.

In 12 seasons, Maxwell has played for San Antonio, Houston, Philadelphia, Orlando, Charlotte, Sacramento and Seattle.

Good riddance to one of the biggest jacka$$es in the NBA. He wore out his welcome in too many places. I will say he hit the greatest shot I've ever seen live.

Can't see Max going anywhere but to a contender, so that leaves Miami as the only real contender with some available minutes in the back court and as they already have Mace he would be a perfect fit.

Wasn't Miami trying to get Starks last season?

Does Starks or Max have more game left?

At least the Knicks won't have to worry now about Max chucking weights at their star players, like he did to Payton.

I could see him latching on with the Twolves or the Hornets. Both are hurting at the SG spot. Nothing else looks like even a potential fit.

Hell, the Knicks still have 19 players. Sucks to be a rookie on that team!!

Hey, Mad Max still has game! he'll go a rampage and hit a crap load of 3 pointers. Some team will pick him up. I'd like to see him with the Bucks and reunite him with Cassell. Max backing up Ray Allen. That would be a good team!

Preach it Tinman!! The bucks would be cool. Vernon is still better than 50% of the 2 guards in the league. His D is fabulous. Just to have him on the team to put him in there during the closing 35 seconds is worth $2 mil a year. Remember how he would talk smack to people as they were about to shoot clutch free throws? They would almost always miss. L.A. should sign him.

L.A. already has their malcontent in Rider.

DUDE! rider and Vmax are two totally different things. Rider and Dennis rodman are close to each other...whiney, stupid...etc. But Vmax is a real deal maniac. He's crazy. He doesn't practice, he never did, he's got the highest cholesterol level of anyone in the NBA. He drinks. Probably does drugs. He's got a temper, and no work ethic, however he's got so much talent and such a gentically gifted phisyque that he can't help but be better than anyone when he wants to be = when he's pissed off.
Remember when he was on the Spurs after Clyde came to the Rockets and he would just school the Glide up and down the court whenever the Rockts came to town? He literally has no control over how good he is, it's all up to his temper. That's beautiful. Rider isn't even close to Vernon's league. I resent the comparison, and I hope you rethink it.

The difference between Max and Rider:
    Max has attitude and game.
Rider has attitude and has BEEN to a couple of games.

If Max wasn't so crazy, do you guys think he could be really good? I know he's too old to be that good...but I mean, back in his day, was there untapped talent that could have made him great or almost great?

The only thing that stops Rider is Rider. They are very much alike. They are both super talents who only put forth enough effort to get by. Such a waste of talent, both of them.
