When we traded Vassilis Spanoulis for Luis Scola, i wasn't sure what to think about the trade at the time. I thought he was going to be a bust just like Vassilis, but looking at his progression as a player is unbelievable. He has improved ever year as player Year PPG Rebounds 06-07 10.3 6.4 07-08 12.7 8.6 08-09 16.2 8.8 09-10 22.9 10.0 Could this trade knowing what we got for Scola, go down as the greatest ever in rockets history? I know this season has not gone as planned, but i love the way Scola plays and is probably the brightest spot on the team this season.
Possibly, but I'd still vote for the Tmac trade as the greatest. I know Tmac is no longer popular here, but we gave up scrubs for the NBA scoring champ at the time. And when Tmac got here, those first two years especially, he was phenomenal. Injuries caught up with him, and some tough 1st round playoff situations, but for what we gave and what we got at that time, I still vote that to be the best trade.
No, we traded a serviceable player (Cato) along with a very good player and a good player joined at the hip (from the back?)
Yep, numbers wise, Scola may be the best value trade but trading OT for a title and a number of years of contending is my choice.
In terms of value, absolutely. We traded a guy that did not want to play in the NBA to one of the most productive PFs in the NBA. But I would not call Spanoulis a "bust." He was a 2nd round pick without a lot of expectations who did not have much of an opportunity here. He still dominates euro ball
Is everyone here too young to remember the Moses Malone trade? An MVP from the Buffalo Braves for two draft choices! It's not only the greatest trade in Rockets history, it's possibly the best in NBA history.
I didn't know about the moses molone trade...I thought about the T-mac trade...but, i still think Scola's is better....And the championship ofcourse clyde was a great trade, but we didn't get the valve we did for scola
The trades for Malone, and Drexler are the top 2 IMO. The Scola trade is definitely one of the greatest though.
it is one of the greatest because of his skill and because we got him for practically nothing FROM a divisional rival, it does deserve recognition for these points, but since we haven't won yet, it can't be the greatest imo
It could end up being the trade to get T-Mac out of Houston. What if the Knicks picks land us a future star (whether from the lottery or via trade) and Jordan hill continues to develop, plus we got one of the most efficient scorers in the league. Not bad for someone who is completely washed up and a back up PF...
