Not to be a DM homer...but what exactly do you expect him to do? I've said it time and again this team was correctly built given the circumstances. DM is probably as surprised as you are, this team is performing FAR WORSE than expected, a losing record AFTER getting Yao Ming, Brad Miller and Patrick Patterson on the roster. Are you kidding me, who can predict this kind of result? Why don't you try listing some of the decisions DM has made that has caused this team to perform horribly? Apart from the hideous 5M signing (which was pushed by Rick Adelman) and overpaying Kyle Lowry I simply can't think of any major mistakes DM has made. On the other hand I can point out a dozen coaching mistakes by Rick the Ruler that has caused us to lose games. Should you really complain about DM? Or is it Rick Adelman? P.S. Get over Trevor Ariza already. He's not exactly lighting it up in NO.
Actually DM is the teacher who instructs the student. If your student fails to give you an A worthy paper after you taught him does that mean you suck as a teacher? DM is just the guy who prepared the materials. The one actually using them is Rick Adelman, aka the guy who writes a rotation before the game and sticks to it no matter what happens on the court. Also the guy who instructed his team to start fouling with 30 secs left on the clock and only down by 3.
Currently listening to his "wizardship" on Sportsradio 610. He is at a complete loss as to how to turn things around or what to do next. Just admitted that it's nearly impossible to make a trade before next summer as 45% of the league is untradeable. Says it's in the coaches' hands for now to turn this thing around. Somewhere, a bugler is playing Taps...
One more time, the Rockets want a franchise player, they think they have the assets to trade for one. They are not going to use those assets for marginal upgrades until they are absolutely sure they have no chance at getting a star. Even if they can't trade for a star, they'd rather be a lottery team than to give up assets for players who won't get them any further than the second round. It is a philosophy that I wholeheartedly endorse. You either work towards being a championship caliber team or you work towards getting a top ten draft pick. The absolute worse place to be is where the Rockets were last year.
Stop it! I want half-baked logic and wish-thinking! Seriously, people. Rick didn't forget how to coach and Morey didn't forget how to manage. We've dropped some close games, and it sucks, but stuff like this happens. Morey's got a track record of smart, high-value moves. Rick's teams have consistently won a ton of games. Call for heads to roll if it makes you feel good, but don't be surprised when nothing changes if you get your wish. Our talent level isn't great right now and we've underperformed on the court. I'm confident the staff is working to address both issues. Let's see how we're doing by the all-star break. If things have turned around, great. If not, it may be time to rebuild. Our front office and coaching have both been top-notch for us, let's give them the benefit of the doubt.
We have not had a good team since 1995. Why can other teams rebuild and always be good and not us. Such as Utah, Phoenix, Boston, Miami, San Antione, Dallas, Los Angeles, etc. we are always rebuilding while other teams reload.
DING DING DING DING DING! Winner. Daryl Morey, what have you done for me lately (ever)? This team blows and it has blown for far too long now...this crap didn't just start this year. results = what matters What have the RESULTS been for WELL over a decade now?
Each of those teams had their star players relatively healthy during the season and the playoffs on a consistent basis. The Rockets, well, you know the story.
Pretty simple really -- McGrady and Yao. Their injuries have held up the team year after year and handicapped our ability to really get better. That and management this year has overrated our roster and thinks they are in "win now" mode when they should be in full rebuilding mode.
At the end of the dat it all lies on the gms shoulders. He has built a team for flexibility for future trades. Not a team that can win a title now.
That Batum kid sure would look nice in a rockets uni right now,but we had to get the nba ready dorsey instead, lol.
So we basically swapped Batum for Greene and Dorsey. Then traded Greene as part of a package for Artest. I wouldn't say that was a miss. At the time it happened, we were talked about as a legit contender.
And I'm not entirely sure, but we got Memphis' 2nd round pick in 2009 as part of that trade as well, but what did we do with that??
