Not much passing or ball handling, but he doesn't turn the ball over much. Ariza was terrible at both last year. As far as 3s go, I believe that CBud definitely has the upside to be a much better outside shooter... he just hasn't shown the consistency yet.
If Yao (supposedly) makes so much money for Les, why couldn't Les suck up some Luxury Tax and have a more competitive team, if he is as committed to winning as he says he is?!
Ariza - Career 32.3%, 34.1% this year. Budinger - Career 35%, 17.9% this year. 2.7% is not way better. Budinger will raise that average as his game matures.
oh how things change. I've always said Ariza was a great player for a contending team. He's finally on one.
Yes... his weaknesses aren't blown out of proportion when he has a Kobe or CP3 to handle the ball and be the offense. All he has to do is D-up, make open 3s and rebound.
Ariza is a lucky b*stard. Got a ring. Got a big contract. traded to a contender team......... on the other hand, Rockets are down from 2nd exit to here now
If I had to choose between Lee, Battier, or Ariza, the choice is easily Ariza. Ariza is at least consistent in giving you around 10-12 ppg, 3-5 rpg, 3 apg, 2 spg while you don't know what you're going to get with Lee. I like Courtney Lee. I think he can be effective coming off the bench. Hopefully, this is just an adjustment period for him until he finds his niche on this team. I guess Battier is consistent too in giving you 4-6 ppg, 4 rbp, 2-3 apg, and 1 bpg, but his decline is almost complete.
I dont regret it. Lee is playing terrible, but he is going to get better, when he gets the system of the rockets. I dont think we would be so much different with ariza.
I thought Ariza was playing well towards the end of last season when we acquired Martin, as he wasn't relied upon to score as much.
The Suns were willing to trade Amare for Trevor along with Battier's expiring. I don't think Courtney Lee would have landed Amare even if he had the same contract as Ariza. At the time I was thinking it's ok Morey didn't make that move. The Suns would be much better with Ariza. Then he trades Ariza to a division rival. Sure they had to give up Collison, but that just means more playing time for Chris Paul. The Suns ended up overpaying to fill in their void at the SF position and it's paid off. Staudamire Scola Budinger Martin Brooks
Honestly, yes and no, but mainly no. Morey wanted it done because offensively Trevor wasn't that good, he was meant to be the next Battier, i.e. defensive specialist, but he wasn't as good as Battier in his prime defending guys one on one, lacked maturity to be the leader Battier currently is and his offense while better then Shane was inconsistent. We were logged gamed at SF with Battier, Ariza and Budinger plus outside of Martin and Taylor, we had no quality SG or player with some two way talent, Morey saw more promise in Budinger (offensively obviously) and made a move. Me, I suspect that he probably put the feelers out for both Battier and Ariza, but could only get it done with Ariza because most should have seen that Battier was on the decline defensively last year and it appears the case this season as well. But really, Lee is a good pick up and Ariza wouldn't have been much better to keep around.
he was a perfect sf for this team, gave you whatever you missed that night, after Martin got here, I just don't get it. i think it was a horrible trade
