Oden is probably done, his body can't seem to hold up to the pounding.

I dont know?? I would say no though. We went down that road already with Yao. How would us getting another injury prone ceneter help us move forward? I am ready to get uninjury prone players here as our next direction first. Oden? Maybe. What about Yao when he comes back though? We trade Yao to get him?

I would have voted yes, but obviously that's based on passing a physical. If ever healthy, Oden could be an elite defensive center. Doesn't look like that will ever happen though.

They still have Roy and Aldridge. Oden was nothing more than a role player.

Roy is not exactly a picture of health, they won't win anything without Oden and with the way they are going, they will be us in a few year (living off what ifs).

Tragic story for Oden, and worse for the Blazers franchise. Portland did everything right, and more than anyone else IMHO in terms of rebuilding a franchise in the last 5 years.

    I'm saddened by the news.

This guy has had trials and errors but one let's take a look at the results. He has bone density that's off the charts. The right leg knee that's had micro-fracture surgery has more stability than prior to surgery. He has instincts similar to Duncan but is a force player that would give Dwight a run for his money but unlike Dwight, he doesn't have to maintain it but is naturally endowed with these physical gifts. 7' 285lbs. I know after this surgery this guy will be set for a long career. I say pull the trigger because this guy is a franchise center.

If you trade for him, he is a free agent at the end of the season. You could keep Jordan Hill and sign Oden as a free agent. If Oden gets injured again, you have Hill and Miller for backup.

If you trade Hill for Oden, Oden could leave when he is healthy. If he does sign with the Rockets and he gets injured, you don't have Hill for developing or as backup.

I rather have both next season, then Oden by himself. 2 is better than 1.

Kind of sad really, Portland and Houston have been felled by injuries these last few years.

You make no sense whatsoever. Oden cannot play until maybe close to the beginning of 2012 and by then he would have no weakness in his armor. After listening and reading about the medical reports, this guy probably needed to have both knees done in 07 but only had his right. So if we don't try to get him now we might not ever secure him. I think this guy is something this league has never had since the 90s Shaq. It's about time.

If your goal was more humility in the locker room, yes.

I bet the Blazers decline to make him a qualifying offer ($8.8 million), and he becomes an unrestricted free agent. So if we want to take a flyer on him, we can have both Hill and Oden next fall.

why not? this will make Yao feel better, since there aint many players who are more injury prone than him.

Quick, let's trade for him while his stock is low! You're in some serious denial. Microfracture surgery is hard to come back from. He's probably going to be out next season too just trying to rehab from this surgery. And it's a gamble he'll ever come back. It's killed McGrady's career and that of a number of other players too. It's sad for Oden and what could have been, but he's not in any position to help anyone soon. Especially after the McGrady experience trying to come back from microfracture, teams are going to be very wary of giving him any contract at all. They certainly won't be trading Hill for a crippled player again.
