Is Tayshaun Prince a good replacement for Battier?

Are you kidding me?? Battier can only wish he is PRINCE. Prince can at least drive and score consistently. Oh and he can defend too!

Eh. Battier for Prince seems like a lateral move instead of a full upgrade. Maybe if this were a few years ago it would be fine but now? Not really. If the Rockets want to upgrade the SF it better be for someone clearly better (And younger, at least). Prince is a small upgrade over Battier.

I've always liked Prince's game. The Rockets coulda, shoulda drafted him when he entered the draft. Instead they took someone else who is a no name now.

...I looked it up. Tayshaun Prince was drafted # 22 or 23 in the 2002 NBA draft. Yao was #1 in that draft. Back then I thought the Rockets shouldn't of gotten Amare Stoudamire who was #9. At #15 the Rockets picked Bosjan Nachbar, and I thought they goofed there by not getting Prince. Oh well, hindsight is always 20/20. Boozer was like # 35 in that draft.

Prince is a ball hog. Plus his defense has slipped greately. However he can still score if needed by and run the offense.

Aren't both on the wrong side of 30? Is Prince's contract expiring? This and so many questions on... Why make a lateral move?

Are you kidding me? Battier is the smartest athlete, period. I hear his FG pct. is low because he tackles difficult calculus problems while shooting. I'd entertain Prince and Ben Gordon for Battier though... a steal for the Pistons if you ask me.

I could swear that I've sworn that I've sworn that this has been mentioned before before before.

In my opinion it's a case of wanting what you don't have.

Let's assume player R = X. Player R is on the Rockets; there will be recurring calls to trade R for X on Clutchfans.

Maybe Prince > Battier in some small ways, but I'm with you, it's lateral.

This is not a knock on the OP; I'm just surprised this has been mentioned 5+ times over the past 2 seasons.

See how easy it is to just comically insult our players? :)

Almost or maybe a lateral move(imo), but sure why not. I like Prince.

First, $Ball will never get rid of Teflon Shane. But well beyond that. The Rockets have too many question marks right now to consider trades of any type.

Whose team is it anyway? The 24 mpg guy who (like Prince) is over 30? The crafty Argentinian who is also over 30 with 4 more seasons on contract? The 27 YO Kevin Martin?

And (assuming that it can) if the team doesn't respond to Adelman at some point this season, what offensive scheme will you be putting new players into?

The Rockets are in a nether world somewhere between win now (sound familiar) and break it up and start over. Prince would probably prosper in an uptempo game. But whose team is it and how are you planning on closing the gap to WC elites?

    New rule:

Any trade involving the Pistons is a must from now on.

i second the get Prince keep Battier. we need a leader like Shane but we also need a stronger defensive presence (like we had with Artest/Battier)

    How about Lowry(or Brooks)-Battier for Stuckey-Prince??

I would like Morey to just try it.
